Phae what is it about?
#
Phae
schema.org
#
ChiefRA
Phae can I bother you for a sec?
#
Phae
i'm at work (working)
#
ChiefRA
sure, no prob, I'll say the problem and you can answer me any time you can
#
ChiefRA
IN the following sintax http://pastebin.com/jxdaSAXU , I weish to give 2 different URLs: the person's URL and the Company he's working for URL, and I wish to know if this is the correct approach, by placing "org url" or I should put ="fn org url"
#
Phae
what you've done is fine
#
ChiefRA
so I don't have to put the fn?
#
Phae
for the org? no.
#
ChiefRA
ok, thanks :)
#
ChiefRA
the Optimus gave me some errors because I didn't put the fn.
#
ChiefRA
that's why I've asked.
#
Phae
oh really?
#
Phae
yeah. Optimus is right, and i'm stupid.
#
Phae
the wiki actually has that very example right at the top.
#
Phae
add the fn.

#
Phae

#
ChiefRA

#

greetings
#
tantek
those of you in San Francisco / Bay Area, you may want to consider going to this (in 3 hours) http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/wiki/SemTech2011BOF
#
tantek
I believe KevinMarks is going
#
tantek
I'm in NYC and am working the organizers and KevinMarks to try to Skype in
#
tantek
or FaceTime etc. :)
#
tantek
Phae, thanks for linking that post by Henri
#
tantek
he did say on twitter that he was going to blog about it but I hadn't seen it til you referenced it
#
tantek
Henri is a reasonable guy and he's got a lot of good points that we should take to heart.
#
Phae
s'ok. just slung it in if anyone was awake. the #whatwg channel had picked it up. i don't think i follow henri on twitter.
#
hober
tantek: hmm, might go to that
#
hober
it's not much of a walk from wwdc
#
tantek
hober, that would be great
#
tantek
I might have you Facetime me into the BOF if you've got it setup on your Mac :)

hmm, that wiki page says the exhibition pass is $0, but the semtech page says it's $25

tantek
hey folks, BOF chat going on now in #schema
#
Askarii
How's the community taking the "Schema" org?
#
tantek
not well at all
#
tantek
seems like everyone in the room is upset, some for different reasons
#
tantek
though many different folks from different communities are finding they share points of objection
#
tantek
Askarri - /join #schema and listen along

#
tantek
sophiap - this was the place example you wanted to look at right? http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/places/#PlaceDetailsResponses
#
sophiap
yes
#
sophiap
as a response
#
sophiap
what I'm really after is a schema of place that is universally agreed upon
#
tantek
the most universally agreed on schema like a place is currently vCard
#
tantek
which is what hCard re-uses (as well as "geo" and "adr")
#
sophiap
I want people to be able to search on restaurant and retrieve a reasonably structured response
#
sophiap
geo and adr are just part of it
#
tantek
right that makes sense
#
tantek
sophiap - sounds like hCard is what you're looking for
#
tantek
it's got everything that you need from that example, except for the rating
#
tantek
and if you want ratings/reviews about places, hReview handles those
#
tantek
(hReview simply wraps a rating/review around an hCard of a place)
#
tantek
sophiap - take a look at http://microformats.org/wiki/hcard and let me know what you think
taaz joined the channel
#
tantek
hello taaz
#
tantek
(a bunch of folks are joining from the #schema channel/room after the SemTech schema.org BOF)
#
sophiap
tantek: microformats would work in describing a place, but I'm looking for a classification/hierarchy as well -
#
taaz
hey
#
tantek
sophiap - for classification, use the "category" property
#
tantek
if you're looking for a place taxonomy for categories - you can use whatever string value you want
#
tantek
if you want to tie to a URL (recommended), you can combine a "category" property string an rel-tag hyperlink
