hi. Is there some way to test if the microformats added to a site are handled by search engines? I just added it to <URL: http://www.fiksgatami.no/ >, but am unsure if I got it right. :)
#
ChiefRA
pere, there is a tool called Optimus:
#
ChiefRA
hold on, I'll give you the exact URL to check it directly
#
ChiefRA
pere, this is the Optimus website: http://microformatique.com/optimus/ and on the left middle page, you will find a Validator field. Insert there your website's particular pages and hit Validate

If you would like to see how Google is "viewing" the microformats part, you can use a tool called Rich Snippets Testing Tool here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=&view=cse . Bare in mind that Google won't list organizations in their results and this tool will highlight that aspect of it.

no need - XFN values are already in the Formats table.

ChiefRA: thanks. the validator find the geo info, while the google testing tool do not. :(

pere: Google do that when something is not as it want it to be :) there are multiple reasons for which it can appear like that, I'll have a look now at it.
#
ChiefRA
pere, I'm not an expert, but it looks like the only marked up data is the geo tag. Did you intended to add more data next to it? I mean for what did you added that geo data? What is that? a place? a person? that shouldn't be entirely marked up with microformats?
#
pere
ChiefRA: I only ment to add geo location, yes. the location is the location of the problem report presented on the page.
#
pere
so the entire page is about the location included.
#
ChiefRA
pere, I have to go now, but I'll be back a little bit later and help you further on, if nobody else will be here by then.
#
ChiefRA
in my opinion, what you need to do is to mark up the entire problem as being an object or so, and then, to that object you will add the geo.
