probably not

related idea, maybe looking at the thingiverse API gives you ideas (I think they have one, at least I've read a few papers that analyzed activity there)
#
martymcguire[m]
haha, they do! i helped build it. :) i could definitely pull some vocabulary from there.

that'd make an "i built one and here's the photo" something like a u-make-of
#
martymcguire[m]
and an "i built one and had to alter the design files so it's a new thing a "u-derivative-of"
#
martymcguire[m]
not sure how to represent the design files with mf2, yet.
#
martymcguire[m]
if i am reading it right, mf2 seems to treat files like images, video, and audio as properties of other entities
#
martymcguire[m]
which are (usually) meant to be rendered in the browser in some way
#
martymcguire[m]
it's possible to treat a design file in the browser like a web component. rendering it with a javascript webgl widget, for example.
#
sknebel
just checked if there is a general attachment property, but didn't looks like it
#
martymcguire[m]
so i guess no mf2 support for flash objects or java applets, lol

Well, there is rel-enclosure
#
martymcguire[m]
embedded h-item has enough properties to cover it, i think., but also very ambiguous
#
martymcguire[m]
does rel cover the whole page? a "thing" can have multiple design files associated.
#
martymcguire[m]
enclosure feels good as a familiar term, though. u-enclosure?

could work, although my non-native-english brain took a second to realize that enclosure is not just something around an object ;)
#
martymcguire[m]
oh, ok, it looks like multiple enclosures are totally allowed
#
Loqi
rel="enclosure"

if anyone is curious, here's the current API reference for thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/developers/rest-api-reference

What exactly is the usecase for p-content on h-cite? I haven’t been able to find a single example.
#
Zegnat
Messing with quote markup on https://licit.li/58b457570d56c
#
sknebel
comes to mind
#
sknebel
on the other hand, https://indieweb.org/h-cite says " When making a mentions stream, should I use h-cite around each entry? A: If you are displaying the entire entry, then it does not need an h-cite."
#
Zegnat
This is also a pure blockquote use-case, not an indieweb use-case.
#
Zegnat
So quoting a partial paragraph from a page, would that be enough to warrant me putting h-cite on the blockquote element and make use of p-content, or not?
#
sknebel
not sure, esp. about the semantics of p-content (partial vs full content)
#
Zegnat
Yeah, and I don’t think the spec is very clear: “p-content for when the citation includes the content itself, like when citing short text notes (e.g. tweets).”

#
sknebel
exactly. does that only mean the full content of the cited resource, or the content of the citation (=just a sentence or paragraph from the larger resource)

Basically what I am asking, sknebel :) I’ll see if I can write it up as a more straight-forward question and then leave a !tell for tantek, as he is the editor for h-cite.

good afternoon #microformats. what's new?
#
Loqi
tantek: aaronpk left you a message 5 days, 4 hours ago: h-event needs the change control section that h-entry has
#
tantek
ah, this is a good point
#
gRegorLove
Howdy tantek. I'm making some good progress on improved backcompat in php-mf2
#
tantek
nice!
