Hi All .. I just finished reading the mail thread about vocabulary
#
AnnBassetti
I don't know much about this ...
#
AnnBassetti
does it boil down to json vs rdf?
#
AnnBassetti
does it have to be either / or?
#
tantek
I haven't read the thread either - I figure the email discussions are all informal
#
tantek
do you have a URL to the mail thread?
#
AnnBassetti
one sec
#
AnnBassetti
(I could use some tips from someone on the fastest way to find an email archive... I always flounder around on this)
#
AnnBassetti
(you'd think I would've learned after all these years)
#
tantek
it's not your fault
#
tantek
email and email archives are still abhorrently painful to use / search etc.
#
tantek
technology stuck in the 1990s
#
AnnBassetti
OK .. here's the whole archive for the social web WG: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-socialweb/
#
AnnBassetti
and the thread I'm asking about starts here: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-socialweb/2014Nov/0045.html
#
tantek
whoa namechecked in the first post
#
tantek
I think I need to implement "email" posts on my own site, which then POSSE to the mailing list, just to make a point
#
tantek
and points to the wiki
#
AnnBassetti
which is microformat, right?
#
tantek
right
#
AnnBassetti
so then my question is ... is the discussion json vs rdf vs microformats?
#
AnnBassetti
OR can they co-exist in some way?
#
AnnBassetti
OR ... maybe that's what's in discussion
#
tantek
there is some chance at coexistence yes
#
tantek
which is what jasnell and I worked on
#
AnnBassetti
cool beans
#
AnnBassetti
at least, if it makes sense ... beats the heck out of having a battle
#
tantek
which I didn't see mentioned in that thread at all
#
tantek
AnnBassetti: I expect battles on the email list regardless
#
AnnBassetti
I hold out hope for friendly, if intellectually stimulating, collaboration
#
tantek
but if you actually look at what's growing in terms of *social web publishing* - (as distinct from just "social publishing" or just "web publishing"), microformats like h-entry h-card and h-cite are what's going out there.
#
tantek
I believe in friendly, if intellectually stimulating, collaboration as well
#
tantek
just not on a mailing list
#
tantek
perhaps here in IRC plus the wiki
#
AnnBassetti
yes, indeed

AnnBassetti
how did you get that link, above, that points to the whole thread (http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-socialweb/2014Nov/thread.html#msg45 ), rather than what I put, which linked to the first entry in the thread?
#
tantek
start with the link you posted, click on it, then click on the hyperlink with label "[ by thread ]"

btw, out of curiosity

has anyone considered playing with a peer to peer version of as-close-to-the-version-of-this-protocol-as-we-can-define (the only problem might be on object ids, maybe?) that works over something like telehash?
#
cwebber2
just a side thought
