Hey
#
StatelessCat
I noticed that when we are on this url, https://www.w3.org/TR/2015/WD-activitystreams-core-20151215/#actors (notice the suffix hashbang), itÅ› not possible to do navigation by clicking on hyperlinks (got 404 HTTP code)
#
StatelessCat
Hum, if I use the Latest published version, it's all right. The 404 Hyperlinks issues are only in the version where the url contains the date.

hey #social - I'm looking forward to September f2f - at TPAC in Lisbon
#
tantek
other working groups are choosing which days to meet already
#
tantek
e.g. CSS WG has chosen Monday & Tuesday of the week
#
tantek
thus I am proposing Thursday & Friday of TPAC week for our Social Web WG f2f
#
tantek
any comments / reactions / preferences / objections ?
#
tantek
I'll add it to the wiki as *PROPOSED*
#
tantek
since we don't have a telcon next two weeks, hoping we can iterate on this, and resolve at the f2f

hey tantek

tantek
hey StatelessCat - add yourself to https://www.w3.org/wiki/Irc-people !
#
StatelessCat
tantek: I'm not a member of the W3c community, just a master student that is doing his master thesis on traces, activities, provenance-based reasoning...
#
tantek
how did you find #social?

tantek: by http://activitystrea.ms/ -> https://www.w3.org/Social/WG . If I need to leave, no problem :)
#
tantek
StatelessCat - no problem at all - just a heads-up that we do use this channel for "official" Social Web Working Group telcons / meetings at times, and those might be good times to just lurk
#
tantek
(you'll be able to tell because the channel will get busy all of a sudden and multiple bots will start talking to each other)
#
tantek
BTW I think anyone can sign-up for a W3C account and edit the W3C wiki
#
tantek
pretty sure you're welcome to do that (e.g. and add yourself to irc-people)
#
StatelessCat
ok understood.
#
tantek
and thanks for the heads-up about activitystrea.ms! I had no idea they were linking here
#
StatelessCat
adn if I have question about the ActivityStreams2 specifications, can I ask it here or I must prefer using the mailing list ?
#
StatelessCat
the mailing list seems to be dead ....
#
tantek
agreed, the mailing list is pretty dead
#
StatelessCat
there is only the github account which is still very active, and technically my questions are not issues
#
tantek
we use the w3c wiki a lot, and then discussions get focused in IRC or on the telcons
#
tantek
right, github is good for filing issues on specific specs
#
StatelessCat
Ok, I'll probably uses an issue on the github accound to avoid to disturb the purpose of this channel.
#
tantek
StatelessCat - do you have your personal website?
#
tantek
your *own

#
StatelessCat
tantek: I don't, why ?
#
tantek
it's one of the logical conclusions of decentralization / federation
#
tantek
of the web
#
tantek
for individuals to own and control their own websites
#
tantek
rather than just a small oligopoly of companies
#
StatelessCat
that's true. But not everypeople would like/need to have their own website. And to keep it updated and to secure it
#
StatelessCat
tantek: does there is a public document summarizing these works that you mentionned ?
#
tantek
StatelessCat you could have said the same thing about "mobile" phones in the 1980s
#
tantek
or personal computers in the 1970s
#
tantek
and people did say those exact things
#
tantek
not everybody would like/need to have their own computer and to keep it updated and to secure it
#
tantek
but now everybody does because innovation made it easy and affordable
#
tantek
re: public document summarizing these works - check out http://indiewebcamp.com/
#
StatelessCat
that seems true. Most people share their cats pictures on proprietary networks, a LOT about their private life. That's a lot like a Centralised system
#
tantek
right
#
StatelessCat
thanks, sad i'm not in a city where indiewebcamp take place :/
#
tantek
StatelessCat - there's a very active community on the wiki and IRC channel: http://indiewebcamp.com/irc
#
StatelessCat
currently reading http://indiewebcamp.com/personal-domain and i learn a lot :) I didint know the existence of Free Domain Registrars, Namecoin ... This initiative/community seems great !
#
tantek
definitely! checkout irc://irc.freenode.net/indiewebcamp
#
StatelessCat
tantek: that's the second time I read irc://irc.<serverTLD>/channelName , is it a standardised notation rather than (<server URL> #channeNAME) ?
#
tantek
I think it works better
