I believe Bikeshed also uses SpecRef so this is a big help.

ajordan++ thanks!

I'm looking at switching my spec over to Bikeshed (instead of Respec). I've documented all the Respec related steps I have to take and frankly it's a bit of a pain: https://github.com/tantek/post-type-discovery (see README at bottom)
#
Loqi
[tantek] post-type-discovery: W3C Post Type Discovery specification
#
aaronpk
is not familiar with Bikeshed, but respec isn't too bad for me
#
aaronpk
also lol i still can't believe nobody thought to put up an HTML form to make the form post to echidna
#
tantek
aaronpk apparently Bikeshed does a better job with automatic cross-spec terminology references
#
tantek
I'll find out more and write something up along with how to convert a Respec spec to a Bikeshed spec
#
aaronpk
i'd be curious
#
tantek
they did try to harmonize their metadata fields
#
aaronpk
i haven't noticed any problems with respec references but i maybe just don't know what i'm missing
#
tantek
so supposedly it's not that hard to convert. so I'm going to guinea pig it and document
#
tantek
right, I want to see if I get any new advantages I didn't before etc.
#
ajordan
aaronpk: yeah apparently he does the "give collaborator access when people send PRs" thing
#
ajordan
tantek: sure thing! happy to help :-)
#
tantek
aside, here's a periscope video recording permalink to that live streaming I mentioned earlier: https://www.pscp.tv/w/1RDGlmMRDZrJL
#
ajordan
tantek: "I want to see if I get any advantages" don't you already use Bikeshed though? I looked it up and the CSSWG uses it right?

ajordan
tantek++ for a recording

it's still on the ACLU's Instagram atm but live recordings are ephemeral for 24 hours
#
tantek
ajordan correct. hence why I shared a video permalink URL that works in web browsers without a native app
#
tantek
(and has a better UI than IG stories)
#
ajordan
tantek: yes :)
#
ajordan
tantek: seems like a large part of your pain with Respec is the fact that you like even your WDs to not require JS right?
#
ajordan
I wonder if you could automate that with https://github.com/strugee/fulldom-server
#
Loqi
[strugee] fulldom-server: Proxy-like server that will show you the DOM of a page after JS runs
#
tantek
ajordan, correct specs MUST NOT require JS to be readable
#
tantek
per js;dr etc.
#
ajordan
tantek: totally agree, but for working drafts it doesn't seem like *that* big of a deal
#
tantek
ajordan, I think the CSSWG setup with bikeshed is semi-automatic, like bikeshed runs on the server and builds a static version for you
#
ajordan
tantek: should I interpret that sentence using RFC 2119? ;)
#
tantek
heh :)
#
ajordan
lol ERC/Emacs highlighted that RFC reference
#
tantek
btw lots of silo / social media related discussion in that video
#
tantek
totally on topic for #social :)
#
ajordan
tantek: right. you probably could set up something very similar using Fulldom
#
ajordan
(which to be totally clear I am biased towards, being the author)
#
tantek
except I'd rather use something that already has a setup
#
tantek
ajordan, which are you the author of?
#
ajordan
tantek: Fulldom
#
ajordan
definitely feel free to do what you want with your spec (obviously), I'm just saying you could probably make it work with Respec fairly easy
