melody im gonna keep using slack as an example, but because slack allows aliasing multiple :blah: tags to the same image, there has also been a tendency for communities to overload the :blah: with meaning, so you might have an emoji that is say a picture of a trash can but you can make it show up by typing either :bad_day: or :trash_can:
