how do folks here feel about me bridging this IRC room with our indiewebcamp Slack, in order to make this chat more accessible to a wider audience?
#
aaronpk
I think this will become more important as we start to get more participation in the community group

I've been running a Slack bridge for indiewebcamp for over a year now, it basically makes both sides of the conversation appear in both places, it's meant to be as seamless as possible on both sides

[ajordan] I'm +1

Slack people show up here with square brackets around their nicks, you can see that in action here https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2017-12-22

on the slack side, the messages look like normal messages except that all the IRC people have "app" next to their name. their nick and profile photo will be set in slack to the same ones that appear here https://chat.indieweb.org/social

[ajordan] Why does it say rendering in the top right?
#
puckipedia
it's trying to get some metadata from the server, and it'll then rerender the entire page on the client
#
xmpp-social
[ajordan] Ah
#
puckipedia
shouldn't differ anyhow, I kinda do it to test the client rendering tech
#
puckipedia
I use it for fast loads etc if you are logged in
