melody but yeah basically i think the most viable iteration of this probably involves clusters of mostly-closed networks of nodes that all only really interoperate with one another and search needs to be implemented within that sort of an environment, with most-to-all data being non-public without authorization -- maybe individual users could choose for some of their data to be more broadly discoverable to some kind of more general crawler? doing this well
