melody whitelisting & greylisting actually introduce a whole new set of problems, and could also in principle be done over top of a centralized infrastructure that also allows for actually dealing with the content at the source, any solution you can apply in a decentralized network can be applied more easily by a centralized one, and likely with additional guarantees
