[infosec.exchange/@shellsharks] A short piece I wrote in 2019 on my love of #rss. If anything, I love it even more these days…https://shellsharks.com/an-ode-to-rss#mondayblogs #blogging #indieweb (https://infosec.exchange/@shellsharks/111125374787510565)

[werd.io/profile/benwerd] It’s no surprise to anyone that I prefer reading peoples’ long-form thoughts to tweets or pithy social media posts. Microblogging is interesting for quick, in-the-now status updates, but I find myself craving more nuance and depth.Luckily, Blogging is enjoying a resurgence... Amazing! Yes a link to the library it uses would be great to know, good feedback for its maintainers

[tantek]
Also I agree with your insights there and you're pointing at something larger: Twitter/Masto/fedi reading & writing UIs are less conducive to the kind of "more intelligent" content that a lot of us prefer to read (and write). So it's more effective to use those systems as a discovery mechanism for the more thoughtful content we want to read (and engage with)

At least the curlable open social web. As you pointed out in the post.m, open or not, you didn't want to make several Mastodon API calls just to get a list of profile links

[tantek]
what is contextly?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "contextly" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "contextly is ____", a sentence describing the term)

sknebel
[tantek]: out of curiosity, did you write the first query including the http: part or is the slack bridge adding that?
#
sknebel
(or I guess rather "is slack adding that, and the bridge bridging it")

[tantek]
Slack (I believe the web frontend UI) is adding that http: likely as part of auto-linking text-entry
#
[tantek]
as in no I did not type that "http:" in front of context. ly in the "what is" above

[manton.org] When we first added ActivityPub support to Micro.blog years ago, I used the phrase “Mastodon-compatible” because I was worried that “ActivityPub” would be confusing for normal people. It now seems time to adopt “fediverse” as a term throughout our UI instead. Curious... (https://www.manton.org/2023/09/25/when-we-first.html)

and I suspect that breaks the loqi search
