[hachyderm.io/@liztai] Blogging the #Indieweb way (PESOS) to be specific, and treating my blog as a digital garden instead of a polished, professional magazine made #blogging joyful again. I can be as spontaneous and imperfect as I want - I am having so much fun & am blogging so much compared to before... (https://hachyderm.io/@liztai/111151410857809413)

[mastodon.cloud/@raf] Is there a hacker news like board, but for #indieweb projects? So, still involving a mix of "technical" and "non-technical" conversations, but minus the VC bullshit? (https://mastodon.cloud/@raf/111154499939275565)

Should I add IndieAuth login comments to indie news? šŸ˜ƒ

Commenting on IndieNews items should work via usual Webmention methods right?

It used to but nobody used it so I removed it
#
aaronpk
well it wasn't usual webmention, it was like webmention with a syndication link or something
#
[tantek]
maybe it was too complicated and didn't work the "obvious" way? we should make POSSEing comments/replies like that trivial without requiring additional work.
#
[tantek]
E.g. when you reply to someone on Mastodon, you don't have to do anything special (as an author) for your reply to propagate to other Mastodon servers showing that post
#
[tantek]
though tbh that's a different problem. the use-case here is replying specifically to the item *on* IndieNews, not the original item

Right, my original implementation treated it as showing a copy of the comment on indienews
#
aaronpk
but maybe the easier way to do it is to just have a fork of the conversation on indienews
#
[tantek]
right, "fork of the conversation on indienews" is more like the Reddit/HN model
#
[tantek]
as long as you can still POSSE into that fork
#
[tantek]
and not have to put "original content" directly / only on that fork
#
aaronpk
not even really POSSE at that point
#
aaronpk
just regular webmention reply
#
aaronpk
Heh I could make indienews send a webmention back to the original site too
#
[tantek]
good point, regular webmention reply
#
[tantek]
"make indienews send a webmention back to the original site too" <-- that would be a Salmention right?
#
aaronpk
Oh hey I guess it is

[islandinthenet.com] I read Jatan Mehta's argument about WordPress.com, and while I respect his perspective, I must respectfully disagree with some of his statements. Let me offer a rebuttal to address the concerns in his article Medium, WordPress.com and social platforms are siloes you should try... (https://islandinthenet.com/what-is-a-silo/)
