Not sure how that relates. The hub would be a hosting platform + CMS that integrate a bunch of server-side techs right? Vs what you could do with a http or html header which afaict couldn't enable much of what the post mentions? But maybe I'm missing something.

“IndieWeb” means a lot of things and at its most basic, yes, it’s just “here’s a website that you have” but there’s a LOT that goes into making a socially-connected website, which is what most of us are talking about when we’re referring to IndieWeb protocols
#
[fluffy]
the point to the hub would be to make it easier to add IndieWeb protocol functionality without having to do it all yourself, while also not being stuck on a particular platform, or even needing to use a platform at all
#
[fluffy]
the point to the hub would be to provide default implementations of a bunch of protocol support, in a way that doesn’t actually lock you into those implementations
#
[fluffy]
providing a turnkey that’s like, *by default* you have this implementation of indieauth and this implementation of micropub and this implementation of webmention and whatnot, and which provides API support to make it easy to get your data out as needed (for example, webhooks and/or scheduled pulls to get your micropub content into your not-micropub-enabled website), but where if you do have, say, native micropub support on your blogging
#
[fluffy]
platform, you can tell the hub “but use this endpoint instead for micropub”
#
[0x3b0b]
Sounds like a really nifty idea to me. A while back I had some ideas about trying to adapt some existing tools into something that could be deployed on Glitch for some moderately similar purposes but I haven't had the motivation to follow up.
#
[fluffy]
like I want people who have websites on neocities or http://tilde.club or whatever to be able to join in at a basic level, even if they only use the IndieAuth support
#
[fluffy]
and also even if you don’t have a website at all this should be a turnkey thing that’s like a http://mini-micro.blog or whatever, where people can do simple text posts, or maybe provide their S3/B2 API key to get image hosting without it costing money to whoever’s running the hub
#
[fluffy]
so like if the hub is hosted at, say, indiehub.example, then users could by default have alice.indiehub.example which would provide their IndieAuth profile and their micropub posts and whatever, but then if they graduate to having their own website at alice-rocks.example, then they can pick up and move things over and also syndicate their micropub posts via the aforementioned API
#
[fluffy]
(the pull API would probably just be the text posts themselves and then parsed as mf2, but there’d also be some access control since I want this to support private posting as well)
#
[fluffy]
and then on the private posting side of things, the dream would be to have an IndieAuth TicketAuth-enabled microsub thing, and also present a ticket store that can be securely accessed in order for other readers to be able to grab the ticket grants
#
[fluffy]
well, other readers and/or microsub implementations
#
pcarrier
What is TicketAuth?
#
Loqi
Ticketing for IndieAuth is an extension to IndieAuth that enables a publisher to send authorization, known as a ticket, that can be redeemed for an access token https://indieweb.org/TicketAuth
#
pcarrier
so primarily, it's a web (profile+blog+microblog+…) CMS+hosting platform with native support for a bunch of techs like indieauth & micropub & h-feed & such?
#
pcarrier
with maybe some parts you can plug into your existing site, some parts you can unplug as you move to your own solution?

[mastodon.social/tags/webmentions] @OpenMentions I don't remember exactly but it was likely me doing a web search on microformats. At some point, I met and fell in love with #WebMentions. The rest, as they say, is history. (https://mastodon.social/@lordmatt/113152638448441278)
