From what I understand an export from WordPress doesn’t include the media just the posts, so when I import to another blog the media is downloaded from the original site. What happens to me is that if there are many photos there seem to be something (time-out??) that results in only some photos actually being uploaded (same thing happened when I moved photos from a micro.blog to a WP blog).
