hey wordpress folks, is this list still up to date? or does it need fixes / tweaks / removals / additions https://indieweb.org/WordPress/Themes#Themes_Supporting_Microformats

tantek: it's generally up to date
#
[chrisaldrich]
I've reordered it a tad to move the mf_s to the bottom as most wouldn't consider this a theme to use out of the box.
#
[tantek]
chrisaldrich++ greatly appreciated it. Just passed it along to a wordpress user that is eager to get setup with all indieweb plugins etc.

Independent Publisher should be removed until we fix
#
[jgmac1106]
Also to note now: Both 2016-IndieWeb and SemPress are compatible with GitHub But post-kind plugin is not
#
[jgmac1106]
Not GitHub Gutenberg... Weirdest auto correct
#
[jgmac1106]
If people want ALL the post types they should stay at 4.9.8 or use 5.0 with classic editor plugin
#
GWG
Post Kinds is in the Wordpress.org repo
#
GWG
Why does it need the GitHub plugin?
#
[jgmac1106]
Yeah I think [xavierroy] was just trying to help. A plugin to auto update your theme from GitHub be great.... Getting into WP.org... Better
#
GWG
My theme has that feature

[jgmac1106] I've heard you mention removing Independent Publisher a few time, but what exactly isn't working with it?
#
GWG
It needs the markup fixed a bit
#
[chrisaldrich]
but anything that keeps it from generally working? as compared to themes without any markup other than the included core mf1?
#
[jgmac1106]
@gwg has a few key bugs... Big issues I noticed....thr Gravatar integration messes up h-card... Parsing off when using post-kinds. @gwg has few critical bugs filed
#
GWG
My fix is messy, I would redo it
#
GWG
Nothing that keeps it from generally working
#
[jgmac1106]
Let me go through my notes.... When I tested all three I ran into breakable but easily fixable bugs

Yes please remove Themes from that list unless they work without any problems
#
[tantek]
Feel free to keep a second "in development" list for the Themes that need bug fixes etc.
#
[tantek]
we really should focus that first list on themes that "just" work without weird bugs or interaction problems with plugins

[gwg] [zegnat] tells me it is expected behavior that img in content of comment do not display…wondering if that is default in semantic linkbacks/webmentions ..if so woould a toggle to display img in webmentions be possible?
#
GWG
You mean WordPress comments? Yes, the system filters tags
#
sknebel
jgmac1106: Zegnat said that *photo properties* should not be in the content
#
GWG
Unless you customize, the content is the only place to inject things
#
GWG
I have an idea for that that I would love core to include

GWG: a thought about Syndication Links SVG sprite.. I’m seeing it coming down as about >500KB file. I’m sure if I gzipped it a little, I could reduce the size but that would also mean I create a cached copy, which I’m currently not doing yet.
#
[asuh]
Considering this, what do you think about splitting the sprite into two sprites: one for common silo logos and the other, larger version, for less used icons?
#
GWG
asuh, I generate it from Simple Icons, I would have no objection to further automation

if someone is using hosted wordpress.com, what's their best theme option(s)? it seems you don't have full theme flexibility on hosted wordpress.com, even with super high premium paid levels

brid.gy and webmentions...we have never experimented that deeply , no one can afford it
#
[jgmac1106]
oohh blank profile
#
sknebel
I'm guessing that can't easily be excluded, since the theme adds the u-photo and gets the url from the plugin?
#
sknebel
or does semantic linkbacks render the comments at least with some themes?
#
GWG
It takes over rendering in some themes.
#
[jgmac1106]
Paul Jacabson uses the Independent Publisher 2 Theme with mf2 feed plugin...markup isn't bad
#
[jgmac1106]
That theme is available on WP.com I think
#
GWG
Making Simple Location work with Gutenberg is proving to be a design challenge to replace the pieces that won't render on both editors.
#
GWG
I hope the new design is something people like.
#
sknebel
ah, I think I traced how comments are rendered in indieweb-2016. all the hooks :D I think it would make sense to not add u-photo on default avatars - if I see it right that could work if semantic-linkbacks injected some kind of info (e.g. a class argument the array returned by the get_avatar) that the theme could check before adding the class in its own hook on get_avatar?
#
sknebel
(if you want me to file an issue for this tell me where it's best)

sknebel: Open an Issue on Semantic Linkbacks, as it does add the photo class and maybe it should do so more discriminately.
