[Rose] Just thought I'd crowd source solutions if anyone knew any. My friend is currently working with nextGen, but every time she imports the folder it creates a new album with the same name. And as she takes all her pictures on her iPhone it would be good to just upload them to the server and be done with it.

petermolnar WP doesn't need a gallery plugin for basic use: if there's one gallery per post, just make sure the files are uploaded to the post and use the [gallery] shortcode

[Rose] It doesn't have to do that, I just want something easy to use from a phone somehow.

[grantcodes] Yeah I don't think you'll find many as it's not really recommended to try and touch the filesystem within WordPress (I think mainly because of the million hosting environments), you might have more luck on github than the wp plugin repo

[Rose] And as she already has a shortcut that helps her select photos and resize them it would be good it she can share/save from there, instead of airdropping to another machine to upload them.

[grantcodes] No idea if it exists [Rose] but if it is just a case of sharing a photo from the iPhone to the WordPress media library that seems like something the WordPress app should be able to do?

[Rose] And she wants several galleries in one page, though I can easily encourage her to split them up without pushback I suspect

[Rose] Unfortunately the default share suggestion is to make a new post

[grantcodes] The size of the original images shouldn't matter too much, if the theme / plugin for the galleries is well made it should resize them

[Rose] However uploading from inside the WordPress app is pretty easy, good suggestion.

[Rose] She's using the default WP theme (not the 2019, the one before that), with just a little custom CSS

[grantcodes] Only issue I've run into with huge images is filling up entire harddisks 😛

[Rose] I wanted to keep this as basic as possible, because while she's a great learner if she decides to hire someone to run it I don't want them to have to unpick a mess of plugins and weird changes.
