• The themes are mostly gone - there are only 8 Premium themes available now, and then a few scrolling pages of "Free" themes (before there were dozens and dozens). My favorite two themes from years past are gone. Independent Publisher 2 is available but not the original.

• When I tried to install the IndieWeb plug-in it immediately generated a pop-up saying that now my blog subdomain would go from being name.wordpress.com to name.wpcomstaging.com

I ended up buying the WP.com Pro version today, since I have the ability to cancel in a couple weeks. It feels very different than the self-hosted installation I have on SiteGround, or the upgraded accounts of .com that I used a few years ago.

• A bunch of plug-ins are installed for you. A few I recognized I wouldn't need, so I went to bulk deactivate them. I couldn't. I had to deactivate each plug-in by hand, and then answer a survey that pops up about why I was deactivating. And then one of them created a banner across the top haunting me from page to page, warning me that I would be missing out on crowdsignal.com.

• I went to bulk delete a bunch of old entries. Turns out you can't bulk delete those either. I had to click each one and select "delete" from a drop-down menu, and then when it deleted, it gave a pop up that said "post successfully moved to trash". Except the pop-ups _stacked_, which meant pretty soon I couldn't reach the entries I was trying to delete and had to click each pop-up to get it to go away.
