[chrisaldrich] GWG, I've seen some recent updates for Post Kinds pop up on my dashboard indicating better dovetailing with ActivityPub recently... I may have to finally do that big update to get those!!

GWG I just filtered it to set the type going to ActivityPub based on the Post Kind type, as opposed to the post formats type, or just setting everything to Note

GWG As for Venues, I have some additional bug fixes already in the repo I need to deploy. And a few more presentation tweaks

[chrisaldrich] Which settings for Activity Pub do you recommend so that one get's the best 1-1 mapping of WordPress (w/ Post Kinds plugin) to Mastodon et al? (My articles seem only to cross post as just a URL with a featured photo if one exists; notes are usually much better.)

[chrisaldrich] I'd never dug into it. It looks like there's some settings for pushing titles as well, but I've never seen it in the wild yet.

[chrisaldrich] I do wish Mastodon would pick up some of the post meta material to show preview cards with titles and summaries the way Twitter and others do. (Naturally bonus points if they do it with microformats instead of one of the other metacrap methods.)

GWG Needs to show the Location taxonomy more prominently for venues as opposed to locations.

[chrisaldrich] Are you manually putting in data for it or is it pulling from other sources?

GWG Well, it creates the venue when OwnYourSwarm triggers a post on the site.

GWG If you check-in on your site, you have to create a venue first.

[chrisaldrich] That's cool.

GWG I do have the start of code to poll venue databases and let you do that in one step, but that's a future version

[chrisaldrich] Plans for doing a photo carousel to pull photos of that location? Could be cool, particularly for multiple checkins.

GWG There's also a way to update old posts, but that is what I fixed a bug on, so I'd wait till I issue a version with the update, because I have a dozen old posts that create new venues I have to reconcile.

GWG [chrisaldrich]: Pull is hard, but venues support a featured image, and attached photos, like any post type

[chrisaldrich] Yes, but I'm way behind on my location posts and in part because of some issues that got fixed since my current version of Post Kinds.

GWG [chrisaldrich]: Yes, the rendering would be done by Post Kinds.

[chrisaldrich] I also slowed down on those tremendously due to the pandemic shut down and never got around to fixing one or two related issues.

[chrisaldrich] Now that I'm checking into venues on a somewhat regular basis, I need to fix it. Perhaps after I'm done with my two classes at the holidays.

GWG [chrisaldrich]: This is what I worked hard to get working before I traveled somewhere new.

GWG I likely have a few more tweaks before I put 5.0 to bed and do something else for a bit.
