[lcs] After some to and fro, I decided to use CSS for the “main” recording (hit, page and eventually user info etc) but use a tiny 9 line javascript to track the referrer (if it exists). That way I can track visits even if users have JS disabled, but still catch that referrer if they do. (I simply couldn’t find a way to fetch that using a CSS request).

[lcs] Having a lot of fun doing this. It’s my very first “real” WordPress plugin, and it feels in tune with the spirit of the indieweb. Can’t wait to get rid of that cookie disclaimer on my privacy page once I disable matomo, and just write “no cookies, no user tracking!”
