#miklb[kevinmarks] are you saying all text should be #000 ?
#miklbGWG you asked earlier what my site was missing, and think my next focus is to nail down to post from my iOS device. All the parts are there, just need to wire it all up
#[kevinmarks]I'm saying that is a good starting point rather than #333 or #666

#GWGmiklb, substitute Android and you have my goal
#miklbI guess I also want to get working replying to a webmentino with a native WP comment. I know there is some work on that and discussions on where that should go
#aaronpki keep having this problem where i need to test ownyourswarm stuff so i have to go check in places
#aaronpkand now i need someone to comment and like a checkin to test that for reals
#sknebeldo we have a term for the pattern of cc-ing someone in a public post? (like /cc @user at the end of a tweet)? Sort of related to audience, but not the same I think?
#sknebelcc is the pattern of [[mention]]ing someone in a public post to bring it to their attention, e.g. /cc @username at the end of a tweet. Evolved from the CC (carbon-copy) field in e-mails, and actual copies in physical mail.
#GWGSo, I looked at the retrieve issue, but haven't started testing. I have a theory though
#[chrisaldrich]That's good; I think I've exhausted banging on it to the extent I'm capable.
#[chrisaldrich]Glad you're recovering, that's never a fun thing to deal with.
#GWGJS isn't really my area, but I think that the issue is related to javascript objects. I need to do some reading
#GWGWhen I changed from the older admin-ajax system to the newer REST API endpoint system, it may be that the output isn't quite the same.

#[chrisaldrich]I'm curious why it works on a clean install, but not on my older production server. I wondered if perhaps there was some sort of conflict
#[chrisaldrich]GWG: in the summary/quote section of Post Properties, are you now also sanitizing the inputs as well? It looks like html that used to render in those sections is now being output as raw text now.
#GWG[chrisaldrich]: I sanitized the input a few versions ago. But I want to look at possibly taking it down a level. The recommendation is to sanitize your inputs and your displays. The reason I want to look at it is I want to change where and to what degree.

#[chrisaldrich]I mostly noticed because most sites don't do oEmbed (or a terrible job if they do), so I was manually including images, audio, and other elements to create a better reply context..
#[chrisaldrich]sanitizing is useful if the target site is malicious at the point of scraping, but manual inputs by the user shouldn't be necessarily.
#GWG[chrisaldrich]: That is why I want to move it into the 'Retrieve' backend functionality.
#[chrisaldrich]It would be nice to have more detail on things like youtube which seems to default to just the video and doesn't include any textual description.
#[chrisaldrich]I'm not sure how one would override those types of settings though.
#[chrisaldrich]I know that one can control the output of oEmbed for one's own site, but not sure how you'd go about modifying it for others.
#[chrisaldrich]for example, on the post just above, I posted a /listen of Marty's podcast, but there's no oembed and the scraper doesn't pull in the audio at all (the primary feature of that post). Many non technical people with podcast plugins aren't likely to modify their oEmbed outputs to include things like photos and/or audio output.
#[chrisaldrich]This forces me to add the audio in manually, but I'd prefer it was in the blockquote of the reply context rather than manually input into the_content which makes it look like something I'm "saying" or commenting with.
#GWG[chrisaldrich]: It does pull it in, it just hasn't yet addressed storage and display. I progressively enhance. The parser pulls all of it
#[chrisaldrich]Making the display portions optional isn't always easy I know... Generally I'd turned off oEmbed to give myself more control of the display.
#GWGThat feature is still there. I just refined the option when it is on.
#benclarkHi all, thank you very much for your help yesterday on POSSE from my self hosted wp site via bridgy - the problem was indeed my theme not adhering to microformats properly as you told me. I changed to the Sempress theme and now it works a charm. I also tested "independent pubisher" theme which I saw on here https://indieweb.org/WordPress/Themes but it did not work out of the box for me.

#benclarkI now have a follow up question about getting backfeed to appear on my original post which I hope you don't mind me asking! Feel free to tell me if there's a different place I should be!
#benclarkI am aware that I need bridgy to act as a backfeed proxy which calls the silo APIs for me, then sends me a webmention for each interaction. I know brid.gy has got as far as calling the APIs because I can see the interactions to my syndicated test posts on brid.gy. How do I now recieve those as webmentions? - Bridgy is telling me "No webmention target". I was under the impression that my webmentions were set up correctly because I syndicated the post
