#sl007The mastodon post ("implement ActivityPub") and this issue https://github.com/w3c/activitypub/issues/87 leads me to the question - what exactly are the differences between Micropub and ActivityPub ?
#Loqi[cwebber] #87 Call out Micropub and SocialWebProtocols in ActivityPub spec
#cweiskemicropub is a protocol to create+update posts on some (your) server
#cweiskeactivitypub is a full subscribe-feed-action specification

#sl007cweiske - that's a nice summary. Would you say micropub + websub = more lax ActivityPub ? And how about ActivityPub in the indieweb "building blocks" context ?
#cweiskeyes. it's not indieweb.org-y because it does not built upon html
#sl007I see [just read the A.P. spec. the first time]. Thankyou.

#[tantek]It's orthogonal. It's not not IndieWeb either. It's more neutral
#cweiskethe same way atom and rss are not indieweb.org-y
#[tantek]It's a protocol not a format so it doesn't really make sense to compare/contrast it with HTML
#[tantek]And again, AP is a protocol. Atom & RSS are formats
#[tantek]The modern format equivalent to RSS/Atom is AS2
#[tantek]Cweiske I'm curious what's your opinion of AS2
#cweiskeI was interested in activity streams 8 years ago but lost interest when I found out that nobody implements it, and that it was too hard for me to implement it myself
#[tantek]Cweiske surprised to hear that as even I as an HTML advocate implemented Atom/AS1 at least because there consuming sites/services
#ZegnatGuess it is fine not to have aaronpk’s IRC bot on the indieweb wiki

#tantek_kevinmarks re: MySpace and FB implementing as1 - I never saw any actual evidence of that - only claims from folks that they did - nor any details how, and only publishing as1 AFAIK, not consuming
#tantek_cweiske - it was outside SF actually, it was Statusnet which had much more uptake outside “the SF bay bubble”
#Loqiblockchain is a weapon used in the middle ages composed of a block shaped striking head attached to a handle by a flexible rope, strap, or chain https://indieweb.org/blockchain
#Zegnatpetermolnar, any order is fine. It is even recommended for readers to fetch the article permalinks separately before parsing, because the feed might just be summaries and stuff.
#ZegnatAnd when readers parse the separate entry pages they get full timestamp and can sort however they want
#Loqiblockchain is a technology in search of a problem to solve, pushed by ideology into areas where the unsolved problems aren’t technological https://indieweb.org/blockchain

#[chrisaldrich]I never want to buy or sell another house in my life... have you recovered from Asia?

#GWG[chrisaldrich]: Sort of. Still backlogged with things, but adapting. Have you moved yet?
#[chrisaldrich]Sadly, no. The original house we wanted recently backed out, but entertainingly we've started escrow on a better house just up the street from it. We're also under contract at the moment and should hopefully close escrow on the sale of our house at the end of this month.
