kaushalmodi I generate my site using Hugo, looked at the theme of https://ascraeus.org/ by @dgold, but it is use an heroku app. I am unable to sign up to that.. I see that indiewebifying.me also has such button but I cannot figure out how that's added (zero experience with php and js). It should be as simple as adding a JS snippet that calls a publicly available endpoint, right?

kaushalmodi It needs to go to some endpoint/server that actually sends webmentions. The one that dgold points to is a heroku app, but user signup is closed off on that for now. Was wondering if there are public options available..

Zegnat No, it doesn’t need to go to a place that sends. The user is sending with the form. You point it at your own webmention receiving point.

kaushalmodi I started using webmentions just last week, and I am not a web dev, so my layman's viewpoint of "endpoint" might be completely off.. but here it is: "endpoint is a server that can send/receive webmentions." Looks like people who host their websites themselves, create their own websites. I don't host my static site myself; I do it through Netlify. Thankfully services like webmention.io exist that can be used by anyone as an endpoint.

skippy an "endpoint" is a target for a thing. webmentions use a webmention endpoint. but endpoints are not exclusive to WMs.

Zegnat There are many endpoints though. For authentication you might be using an IndieAuth authorization endpoint, and for authorization a matching token endpoint. And yes, those names are confusing.
