jgmac1106[gwg] You would want to control order. I thought originally doing this by post-date but that doesn’t make sense the biggest story or item may not be chronological, but that is more publishing the newsletter.
jgmac1106[mrknvds] Yeah I am not even sure an entire new newsletter plug in is needed, though I never rely on WordPress mail if I am sending ton of email
jgmac1106didn’t say it had to be a post type. You can call something “something” without making it “something” Didn’t realize series and collections were each a post-type in the wild
[mrkrndvs][jgmac1106] I think that I will go with a collection. I see 'series' as being something topic / theme based. I agree with your point about added plugins. My only question is how would I support people to sign up to my newsletter? Wouldn't I need a plugin at least for that. Personally, I don't care too much for all the added templates etc that they provide.
@davidlaiettaDo I know anyone interested in building #indieweb tech or federated services? I'm having trouble conceptualizing some things without having people to bounce ideas off of. (twitter.com/_/status/995485455675162626)
@hmans↩️ I'm not terribly active in the Indieweb community (yet? Who knows), but am building open source incorporating a bunch of the concepts. (twitter.com/_/status/995564549838462976)

jgmac1106Mrning all, So I am thinking I will finish my site template, and then make a copy stripped of microformats and then use both to make step by step tutorials for Glitch and Thimble. Today finally going to turn my eyes back to WordPress and record some think alouds with new users
jgmac1106[kevinmarks] Backwards design. I want to get the finished product 100% correct. Then I remove everything and walk learners through adding stuff as they complete a tutorial. Will put up a completed version in Glitch as well but I was thinking learnign tool
jgmac1106[wiobyrne] I have been building this: https://github.com/jgmac1106/microformatstemplate (I forked this one for literacy scholars) I want to make a directory of Open Scholars, get a basic course template up (it’s bootstrap now folks urging me to learn and use CSS Grid…thus the long roadway to completion)
jgmac1106[kevinmarks] If you look at the old microformats getting started guide that is how it works. Plain html content and by the bottom of the page you have an h-card doing the same thing but in a step by step tutorial approach
jgmac1106h-card was easy h-resume a bit tricker as I had to nest in so many properties and then when I had to use h-cite withing h-resume…..suddenly humab readable isn’t as readable. I wanted to teach folks some basic HTML but it gets unbasic fast. May have to build a javascript form for vita importing
jgmac1106again apologize for massive number of spelling mistakes. Got hit urnal nerve damage in the left hand down 2.5 fingers lately. Going to try a standing desk so my forearms dont rest on table pinching nerve
Loqi[Tantek Çelik] In #Berlin 🇩🇪 @W3C Advisory Committee meeting (#W3CAC) as a member of @W3CAB, sitting next to @torgo, listening to @jeff_jaffe’s intro, and @plhw3org’s projects update: https://www.w3.org/2018/Talks/ac-slides/project-intro/ (more links insi...
GWGtantek__: The reason my current big project involves POSSE is because, if Wrimini or Indigenous for Android becomes a regular posting method for me, I need a way to hook in Syndication
tantek__I just had a Mastodon user ask me (in person) how can they follow me from their Mastodon UI? as in, what do they enter into the "follow" text box?
Loqi[Gargron] >an Atom feed with activitystream data
Just an Atom feed will do too, but it needs to contain a link to a Pubsubhubbub hub
>webfinger support
Yes. Link to Atom feed, link to profile, link to salmon, magic key
>an XRD at .well-known/host-...
tantek__snarfed, ideally I could tell a Mastodon users to just enter "tantek.com" into the follow box and it would work. barring that, a decent workaround would be to tell them to follow" @tantek.com@tantek.com"
snarfedthe setup steps on https://fed.brid.gy/ are generally necessary but not generally sufficient. and based on the links earlier, we don't all have a great understanding of the details of why
aaronpkit's not a design flaw in bridgy fed, it's a design flaw in ostatus that it requires .well-known support which means you can't just add it to an arbitrary web page
snarfedheh no worries, i don't feel bad. but it is clear that people reasonably *think* bridgy fed will make their average indieweb site "just work" with mastodon etc, which is a critical hole
ZegnatI am meeting up with Jeena tomorrow and we may do some IndieWeb podcasting. I am not sure if he has any topics in mind, but I do not. So if anyone would like to hear us talk about something specific, drop a suggestion!
