Today's goal in #indieweb is take my syllabus, originally built on a Skeleton framework and update it to CSS grid. May try to do a sticky navigation at the top rather than a horizontal nav menu in each section. CSS grid isn't bad. See how day two of learning goes

[zegnat] I am not either except what Jetpack does and I don't check those, to me good content better community equals more readers, but I don't have to sustain myself as a blogger. Iam sure if it is how I fed my kids I would pay more attention
#
Zegnat
Does Jetpack do that within the local WP install or does it communicate the stats externally?

[zegnat] the whole point of my two week WordPress only experiment is to decide if I just want to move my site to a small static site with a lighterweight blogging solution on a subdomain. I like using Known for microblogging but want to try a MicroPub client with WordpPress. I tried micro.blog but it seemed more iOS focuses than me but it is still supported to that is a plus
#
jgmac1106
[petermolnar] what are yu using for syndication then? None? If I remember correctly you don’t syndicate content in two places correct?
wolftune, KartikPrabhu and friedcell joined the channel
#
petermolnar
jgmac1106: I experimented a lot with syndication; these days, I use bridgy to flickr, and that's it. While I was using WP, I ended up with SNAP, but I was very close to write my own solution based on Keyring.
#
petermolnar
what is SNAP?
#
Loqi
SNAP (Social Network Auto Poster) is a POSSE plugin for WordPress https://indieweb.org/SNAP

So it is on their end an not mine?
#
aaronpk
ultimately yes, you should never have been able to get into this situation. tho there might be something you can do about it. for example I can't remember whether you're supposed to type your micro.blog/username URL or your actual blog URL when logging in to quill with a micro.blog account
#
aaronpk
but it should have been able to handle this regardless
[grantcodes] and [eddie] joined the channel
#
[eddie]
When logging in to Quill you should log in with your blog url, so http://username.micro.blog

I just found a bug with site verification in Micro.blog... I think to accept Micropub requests from Quill with custom domains the site has to be verified. Just fixed it. [kim_landwehr], mind trying again?
#
[manton]
I introduced this problem while making site verification more robust a couple days ago. Sorry I didn't catch it earlier.
#
[kim_landwehr]
Yes that worked!
#
[kim_landwehr]
Thanks [manton]
#
[manton]
It's an open question whether M.b should be strict about site verification from Quill. It's probably unnecessary.
#
aaronpk
what does "verified" mean in this context?
#
[manton]
It just means there's a rel tag on your site that points to your Micro.blog profile.
#
[manton]
Which is usually automatic for all Micro.blog-hosted sites.
