↩️ Lots of angles to consider. Just the code, the org, the network of sites/users, the UX etc. I would focus on replicating Twitter experience by connecting all the instances "owners" by way of indieweb or similar. Simplify architecture, support podcasting, bundle paywall concepts.

Zegnat: similar in concept to this: http://txti.es
#
dgold
txti also gives the content-as-json via minimal api
#
Zegnat
That’s cool. I am wondering if something like that might solve my blogging woes
#
Zegnat
Is that ... HTML as JSON?! Oh my, that’s a new one
#

Yeah, I've been onto the guy about that html as JSON

!tell GWG: Your podcast pages could use some cover art! I wonder if you could use something like schmarty where you have the IWC logo and a colored banner on the bottom that says “An IndieWeb Podcast”. Does your Podcast/Audio post type allow for an image to be included?

Has anyone noticed that on GitHub they have Facepiles literally kind of stack on top of each other like cards? When you hover over them with your mouse, they spread out so you can investigate each one individually. Kind of a cool form of a face pile
#
cweiske
example?
#
[eddie]
On a commit page
#
cweiske
I wonder how this looks with 10 authors
#
[eddie]
That is a good question
#
sknebel
I wonder why do this when there's hundreds of pixels of whitespace on the same line
#
[eddie]
haha I’m wondering if they are trying to keep attention away from the photos
#
[eddie]
like they don’t want that to be the primary focus?
#
aaronpk
i thought they do that to show that the authors are all contributing to the same individual thing (the commit)
#
aaronpk
I believe that happens when someone else merges a commit
#
[eddie]
Ohhhh so there’s only probably every two, the author and the merger
#
cweiske
does someone have a repository with an octopus merge?
#
[eddie]
I’m not even sure what an octopus merge is?
#
[eddie]
Well that’s probably #dev anyway lol
#
[eddie]
so ignore that question

@skippy we can save you from bad choices
#

[jgmac1106]: there are no bad choice. either give in to the invasive data collection of Google, or accept the "we know best" attitude of iOS and their unchangeable default apps.

So, I've started working on my new blog engine that would support indieweb out of the box. The biggest hurdle was to come up with codename for the project. In the end I've decided to go simple and called it 'strunk'.
#
marinin
Besides that, I discovered a problem, that feels like I should document it somewhere. I've got Marinin.xyz as my primary url on the web. All was good, until I discovered that all .xyz TLD is blocked at my work (and possibly on untold numbers of other providers), due to 'spam'.

Rather than trying to fight bureaucracy, I decided to move to .com: what should I consider to do that flawlessly? Currently I'm thinking of doing 301 redirect.
#
marinin
redirects* on all pages, that is. Not sure, how IndieAuth would handle that, though.
#
sknebel
it'll log you in as the new domain if you try to log in with the old

#
Zegnat
You can use 302 temporary redirects and IndieAuth should stick to the original domain while still following the redirect for discovering your endpoints, marinin

#

But I guess it depends what you want. Do you want to keep using .xyz as your main identity? If you are considering setting up 301s, that doesn’t sound like it.

pstuifzand
ok, didn't know that
#
sknebel
(or rather, they tell a mediawiki plugin what to put a "p-summary" on, which Loqi then finds)
#
sknebel
one reason why most of us use Loqi to create new pages ;)
