jgmac1106, I've been meaning to overhaul that entire page to make it more gen2/3 facing and take out the indiemark stuff which is aimed at a gen1 crowd.
#
[chrisaldrich]
perhaps make a subpage of your userpage with an edited version and then we can move/rename the pages? A change as drastic as you/I are thinking of deserves an entirely new page altogether.
#
jgmac1106
[chrisaldrich] on another note if you have an indieweb theme what plug ions do you not need to install? Need to document that. Going back to David’s post getting mf2 sorted seems like the first and only thing theme developers are required to do, not sure semantic linkbacks could be embedded in theme because the parsers get a lt of love
#
jgmac1106
micropub, pubsubhub, webmentions, and bridgy all require oustide dependancies so they must be used
#
jgmac1106
I don’t think the indieweb plugin is required if they provide a path to an hcard for users, but recommend it if they don’t want to add native rel=me and native hcard
#
jgmac1106
on the wiki, what is the community history beyond not using talk pages? Why not plan out edits and revisions and have thos convos documented with the page.
#
jgmac1106
I will make a spot on my page, working on collecting ideas for a theme developer page now

realize I need to go change all my bookmark tags to WordPressTheme

jgmac1106, I've been watching the drupal progress and it's been spectacular pace since mid-February, but I'm guessing you'll find it not as well-baked yet in comparison to Known or WordPress at the moment. i suspect in 6 months at its current pace though it will certainly catch up and potentially surpass them.

[jgmac1106] or maybe Grav?

still doing Drupal and still Grav but I am runnign into a problem of having my posts everywhere and having to figure out export and import strategies

though [chrisaldrich] still say Known is the best turn key solution out there. Have to add some new idno plug-ins but other than that it just works. A little slow but not with micropub. Kicking it with Known and Indigienous as the bset. May micro.blog as well since community is there but that will probably be just for syndicating notes and photo types

aaronpk - about twitter / IndieAuth : The reason that the "continue" page appears is if you access twitter too frequently. This is basically like many pages do it. We can still access rel="me" links via the twitter REST API which has a concept of https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/basics/rate-limits.html - maybe these apply to html as well (1/2)
#
sl007
The only solution that came to my mind was from a journocode presentation which I have to search. Basically the user /me generates the initial OAuth-Token and sends it encrypted to overcome the rate limits from a centralized party.

So I ran one of my blog posts through IndieWebify.me and I'm trying to clean up some of the errors. It's asking me to add a u-photo to my p-author. Thing is, I already have a a well detailed h-card in the sidebar. Can I somehow tell it to use that instead? Or should I duplicate the content in hidden divs?
wolftune, [kevinmarks] and eli_oat joined the channel

ancarda: indiewebify.me needs some update. try out this one to debug that: https://sturdy-backbone.glitch.me
#

Hmm, well if I enter https://markdain.net/post/3, it's only giving me name and url for the ownership. No photo or anything else that is on my h-card in the sidebar
#
Loqi
[Mark Dain] Abusing IPv6 tunnels and CloudFlare for a static IP address

ancarda
Should I duplicate the info inside the post's author div?
#
sknebel
the opposite, you should only have u-author linking to your homepage
#
ancarda
So, what I have is correct: <p>Published by <a class="p-author h-card" href="https://markdain.net">Mark Dain</a>...</p>
#
Loqi
Mr. Mark Dain
#
sknebel
u-author
#
aaronpk
ah I see the problem, you've got a duplicate h-card inside the post. if you take out the embedded h-card and just link to the one that's already there it'll match up
#
sknebel
not an h-card
#
ancarda
Oh wait
#
sknebel
only <a class="u-author">
#
@EddieHinkle
Well it’s that time of year… with WWDC approaching I have to remind myself not to open the “Tech News” channel of my Reader until after the keynote as to not spoil anything when/if leaks happen. https://indieweb.org/reader
(twitter.com/_/status/1003056463084969985)
#
ancarda
So, remove `h-card`, change `p-author` to `u-author`, and it should all be fine?
wolftune joined the channel
#
ancarda
But IndieWebify says "You’re marking up your post’s author as a string — add h-card to make it a full h-card!" -- is that just buggy?
#
sknebel
that's.. also an option
#
sknebel
you can make h-cards on every post
#
sknebel
but then the algorithm doesn't search for a more complete one
#
sknebel
so if you don't want to show a full one on each post, it's better to link to your homepage with a more complete one
#
ancarda
Yeah I'd rather it pull from the sidebar. I added a bunch of invisible tags like p-job-title
#
ancarda
So it'd be a lot to duplicate :/
#
sknebel
so yeah, indiewebify is kinda misleading there, since it tries to give one correct answer, but there's options?
#
ancarda
So my homepage has no `h-feed` of `h-entry`'s as I wasn't sure how to mark that up -- I only give a synopsis (the first paragraph) on the homepage
#
ancarda
I'm wary to put just the first paragraph into `e-content` incase readers assume that's the entire post and don't follow the `u-url` (rel=canonical) to grab the full contents
#
sknebel
that's where you use summary property
#
ancarda
Ah, ok, thank you
#
ancarda
I'll sort out an `h-feed` soon. I think my site will (finally) be fully marked up then
#
ancarda
Only took me about 6 months to do it
#
ancarda
So in another 6 months or so, you can send me WebMentions!
