jeremycherfas, ha, you might be right! I still haven’t gone through the one by GWG and chrisaldrich completely.

Do folks think webmentions.io is easiest way to set up and receive webmentions for https://edu522.networkedlearningcollaborative.com?
#
Loqi
EDU 522: Digital Teaching and Learning Too
#
Zegnat
Under what objective goes “receive webmentions”?
#
Zegnat
But as far as ease of receiving webmention, yes, wm.io is probably the easiest wm-endpoint-service
#
Zegnat
The problem is of course that you do not really “own” the received mentions then. Unless you use something like Morris to create a copy
#
[jgmac1106]
I want them to send a webmention here http://edu-522.glitch.me/TeachSomething.html

#
Zegnat
I think asking them to send you a webmention is nice. And that can be done in many ways (curl, telegraph, CMS, ...).
#
Zegnat
I am just wondering what the goal is asking them to aso receive webmentions.
#
Zegnat
Do you expect something to be done with the webmention?
#
[jgmac1106]
Okay will check out Morris. I want to make headway before I go begging around globe at HWC
#
Zegnat
Receiving with wm.io is easy enough, but then what? Then the wm you have sent them is stored by wm.io ... what do you actually want students to do?
#
[jgmac1106]
They all have WP, easy for them to send and receive
#
[jgmac1106]
They are going to build a portfolio page displaying webmentions I send as badges
#
Zegnat
Aah, OK, if you know everyone is on WP that makes it a bit easier. As you can focus on what happens when WP has received a wm
#
[jgmac1106]
By the time I leave IWC NYC I want to have all the parts to an IndieWeb LMS MVP
#
[jgmac1106]
Currently I need to make a manual file for each badge, not sustainable.. Started working on javascript form...but have no idea how to spit out and create a new html file... Gonna need a database solution
#
[jgmac1106]
.... But for now, proof of concept, can I receive a badge application as a web mention and award badge as webmention
#
Zegnat
+1 to proof of concepts!
#
[jgmac1106]
Then @zegnat I return to the citation engine you made and combine that with what I found from UNC library and it's done
#
Zegnat
Exciting
#
[jgmac1106]
Doing a correct h-cite with SPA still aaf
#
[jgmac1106]
With APA... In a SPA less annoying
#
Zegnat
h-cite wasn’t really made for it. Though if you can show the usecases and possible prior art I could totally see the microformat being extended. Just a matter of documentation.
#
Zegnat
FWIW, I could totally see sort of a badge-as-a-service system working. Where you add badges to the system through a standard form. And then can send those badges to different URLs as a separate action. (“Send badge #15 to example.com.”)
#
[jgmac1106]
Yeah... Badge as service is what I need to get to. I started on the javascript forms.. But the OG template still needs to be handcoded for now
#
Zegnat
Do you need javascript? What’s wrong with a normal HTML form?

What is context collapse?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "context collapse" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "context collapse is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
jgmac1106
there???? sorry just have difference between open and private on my mind
#
[kevinmarks]
context collapse is when something written in one context is repeated to another context, often for the purpose of attacking the writer - it is a key failing of /twitter and a misunderstanding of /publics
#
jgmac1106
Context collapse refers to when a social media user who belongs to a specific peer or social group shares a post publicly but with the expecation that the audeince understands the social norms and practices of the gorup creating a “private” post in public. Then another social media user, not part of the peer group, encounters or interacts with the post using a different set of norms, values, and practices.

Hi, I am in need of a little help with aperture, Indigenous, alltogethernow and monocle. I’ve got aperture set up ok (As far as I can see) but nothing shows up in Indigenous or alltogewthernow. I am using WordPress and the indieweb plugins. http://johnjohnston.info/blog I’ve put slightly fuller notes at http://johnjohnston.info/oddsandends/aperture.txt including the error mess

[tantek] it isn't a killer meme making tool, we need to take the lessons of Mozilla Popcorn, Zeega and [kevinmarks] hatred for google and wrap them up into one art generating machine. the layout in terms of CSS Grid is prettly simple, its the input fields allowing 25/50/75/100 on top of a slide where you can set a background image and done
#
[jgmac1106]
it doesn't take any money, we could easily ( a relative term) spin up an IndieWeb version that could be an HTML first version of memes and infographics
#

you don't need a killer meme tool...I spent a few months learning css grid, aint hard to get a h1 above an image and h2 below...in fact it has been first website I teach people to build for last six years
