jgmac1106_Orcid is a is a nonproprietary alphanumeric code to uniquely identify scientific and other academic authors and contributors. This addresses the problem that a particular author's contributions to the scientific literature or publications in the humanities can be hard to recognize as most personal names are not unique, they can change (such as with marriage), have cultural differences in name order, contain inconsistent use of first-name abbreviation
AngeloGladding[kevinmarks] that was a great read -- i've always loved the garden/stream metaphors, hence the [rainforest/jungle] canopy -- decentralized wiki/chat should be something we collectively move towards -- i think those two, in a one-click, zero config (Tor hidden service based) reference implementation along with an h-card and a rel=me generator would be a good use of our time
