[Kevin Marks] Amber Naslund took 30 days off from social media and it clarified things: When I felt like posting, I told myself to write instead. If I couldn’t find it in me to write, I spent time with some other creative pursuit – music, needlework, visual ... http://known.kevinmarks.com/file/4bac3356f589e43444a47e362d44019e/thumb.jpg

about 6-7 years ago I set up a project to mirror my flickr account to a local website
#

but I didn't want to deal with issues around two-way syncing, so it was only a one-way mirror, and I didn't change any of my workflow

[aaronpk] thanks. My friend Peter brought all the storage home, and described how he downloaded all his pics with metadata, and also how he replaced all the embedded Flickr pics in his blog archive with locally stored ones https://ruk.ca/content/leaving-flickr and https://ruk.ca/content/how-download-all-your-flickr-photos-and-metadata

As you say, its not just downloading your own photos, it's the collective archive of events and the pool of CC images too.

[schmarty] thanks! [kevinmarks] yes, that cc part is important to me, as is reciprocally contributing my own images to that.

[ℳąhą Bąℓi, PhD مها بالي 🌷] Where can i find the plugin?
#
aaronpk
the archiver I made did include comments and likes from other people
#
[jgmac1106]
If I recall corectly with GDPR and download Flickr went with idea that the photographer doesn't own the comments, the person posting comment does
#
[kevinmarks]
[tonz] I sent you a webmention about that, but it may be in your mod queue http://known.kevinmarks.com/2018/for-the-contributing-cc-images-part-you

[Kevin Marks] For the contributing CC images part, you can upload to Internet Archive: go to https://archive.org/upload/ and sign in.

!tell sl007 Yeah I agreed with you that the criticism isn't how Inrupt should be defined and that the article may cast Ruben in a negative light based ona Twitter exchange. Serious rewrite the page and teach us about Inrupt

great flickr usage is stuff like: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/microformats1/ or https://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/vloggies/ which would be destroyed by 'delete oldest first'

!tell [tonz] Not getting a Title from your post at https://www.zylstra.org/blog/2018/11/flickr-account-changes-and-bringing-things-home/. Not sure why. You have `name` on your `h-entry` but nowhere else.
#
Loqi
Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next
#
aaronpk
not getting a title in what?
#
jeremycherfas
A bookmark of the post. Omnibear refused to have anything to do with it and Quill posted the link without a Title.
#
aaronpk
quill sends whatever you see in the quill interface, nothing to do with the post being bookmarked
#
aaronpk
I normally use the quill bookmarklet which populates the quill bookmark interface with the page title of the page you run the bookmarklet on
#
jeremycherfas
The interface is empty, aside from the Bookmark URL.
#
aaronpk
right, quill doesn't do anything smart with the link being bookmarked
#
aaronpk
it probably should, but that does not happen right now
#
jeremycherfas
Nut the bookmarklet does do smart things?
#
jeremycherfas
Yup. That works perfectly. As usual, Thanks aaronpk
#
[jgmac1106]
...grrrr I signed into OmniBear to see if I could use n on my Known and I broke my site
#
jeremycherfas
That seems, er, odd.
#
[jgmac1106]
I lost my sign box
#
[jgmac1106]
if I filter the content I can get the sign box back
#
aaronpk
that html looks very broken
#
aaronpk
guessing some plugin is doing something bad
#
[jgmac1106]
okay gonna go delete stuff
#
[jgmac1106]
now just getting stuck at in invalid token...great way to start the day
#
[jgmac1106]
I can sign in if I am in incognito or private browser mode....must be a cache...but why wouldn't the token from Omnibear expire?...guess I am getting -dev

[jgmac1106]
restarting browser will probably work...have too many tabs open for writing projects

Does that mean your site has a feed of all webmentions you receive, and you subscribe to that feed in aperture?
#
aaronpk
Not quite, Aperture also provides an API that external tools can use to push content into channels. It's not part of the spec, though it's possible it could be. I have a handful of separate scripts that push stuff into Aperture that doesn't live at its own feed
snarfed joined the channel
#
doubleloop
Ahh, cool. I see. I had so far only thought of Microsub as subscribing to feeds. But that's super cool to also allow pushing in to it.
#
aaronpk
Microsub is more about presenting feed data to apps in a way that you can interact with it, and cares less about exactly how that data got into the microsub server

I suspect that they'll have a stronger and more caring community when they're done with their changes at Flickr.
#
KartikPrabhu
are they provinding a download option for backup?
#
[chrisaldrich]
I suspect silo-type businesses where people pay a small nominal fee to not be advertised against are probably much more successful than those giving things away for advertising clicks.
#
[chrisaldrich]
I have a feeling that the pareto principle is at work and the top 20% of active users are already at a Pro level anyway. The rest is just a way to get rid of the non-active/non-caring bloat to get back to something they used to have.
#
[chrisaldrich]
I do hope they're being careful with the small percentage of non-active free tier over 1000 to prevent data loss.
