So far so good on Fathom. The UI is nice and quick, it was easy to install, and works well.
#
[cleverdevil]
The only thing I didn't like is that it really wants to be installed on a subdomain.

interesting; wonder if that's some kind of design choice there w.r.t: fathom + subdomains
#
[cleverdevil]
No idea. I tried configuring it on a path using Apache ProxyPassMatch and made good headway, but eventually ran into a wall.
#
[cleverdevil]
Was trying to avoid having to register another subdomain and SSL certificate.
#
[cleverdevil]
But, whatever, its pretty easy these days with LetsEncrypt / certbot.
#
[eddie]
Oh wow, with nginx it’s incredibly easy even with a subdomain
#
[eddie]
:exploding_head:
#
[eddie]
It took like 10 minutes to download and install and get Fathom active on my website
#
[eddie]
That said, their installation instructions matched my server 💯
#
[cleverdevil]
Yeah, I am using Apache and once I switched gears it took about that. Really quickl

Biggest advantage of Go projects is the ability to just download a single binary to install.
#
[cleverdevil]
I've always wished I could do that with my language of choice 🙂
#
[eddie]
Yeah, that’s pretty awesome
#
[eddie]
Also, it’s great Fathom respects the Do Not Track setting 🙌
#
[eddie]
I wonder if it’s any use to add tracking to feed pages? (like RSS/JSON Feed), I’d have to configure that myself.
#
[cleverdevil]
Hmm... if you could somehow reverse engineer the tracking JavaScript dingus, you could likely make it happen on the backend where your feeds are generated.
#
[cleverdevil]
That would be nice to have.
#
[eddie]
Yeah that’s what I was thinking
#
[cleverdevil]
LMK if you figure that out. I'll add it to my site too 🙂
#
[eddie]
I’ll have to add that to my “to look into” list

#
gRegorLove
Oh, yeah. I didn't see one was coming up. I should be available.
#
gRegorLove
Is there a reason that's at 7:30 instead of 6:30? I don't mind, but it might be easier for people in Central/Eastern time
#
[chrisaldrich]
gRegorLove, I think Millar is in TX, so maybe splitting the difference?
#
gRegorLove
Yeah, I'm suggesting 6:30 Pacific, so 8:30 Central

#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "feedstagram" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "feedstagram is ____", a sentence describing the term)

feedstagram is a simple tool to generate an h-feed from your Instagram account - https://github.com/cleverdevil/feedstagram

[cleverdevil] Yay! This (super short) post was done using the Media Endpoint Shortcut I made and the Drafts Action you made. I was able to compose everything from Drafts since it has a "Run shortcut" action that returned the link to the image automatically: https://eddiehinkle.com/2018/11/13/19/article/

because it's an optional extension to return the url

#
[cleverdevil]
Ah, that's almost certainly it.
#
[cleverdevil]
Can Drafts instead pull the URL from the redirect?
#
[eddie]
The only thing that knows the url is the Media Endpoint
#
[eddie]
unless the Media Endpoint supports querying the last uploaded file but I'm sure Known doesn't support that either

Curious for thoughts: Is it worth building a demo site in html instead of completing a wireframe with Adobe XD and InVision if the functions are simple (button clicks to new pages)? Or is there another wireframe solution that enables easy content changes, like InDesign, but updated. Had a volunteer create wireframe pages, but they look incomplete and two weeks are gone. I suppose it was a good lesson. Wondering if XD is a waste of time.
#
slvr
if it's a single page, sure it's worth it.
#
[kiai]
Three single pages. 🙂
#
slvr
I had a problem like that and wrote a shell script that kicks the pages out from a template. :)
#
[kiai]
Thanks, @slvr
#
[kiai]
what kind of template?
#
slvr
3 files, header, content, footer. Only the content was unique per page.
#
[kiai]
cool.
#
slvr
The script just takes each content file, slaps it between the header and footer, and dumps it to a new file.
#
[kiai]
yup. got that.
#
slvr
I can rattle it off here if that is useful.
#
[kiai]
It's okay. Each page is different, i.e. no footer, different headers.
#
[kiai]
But thanks.
#

It's just as easy to type out the html for me. Means getting someone else to make my Salesforce account work.
