[eddie]!tell [kimberlyhirsh],[Khurt] I saw you are both interested in IndieWebCamp Online! We are thinking about having it be the weekend of March 9-10. Are there any existing conflicts for you on that date?
Loqi[Chris] This mess shows off a combination of the pitfalls of our current duopoly in mobile platforms and centralization.
For those not in the loop, this afternoon Tumblr began a purge of NSFW accounts, including artists and sex workers. A considerable chunk...
Salt[m]it's sad about tumblr, I just finished reading Custodians of the Internet and they had a section about the promises made to keep it open and the backlash that was felt when starting along this path to ban explicit content.
nitot, tantek, benwerd, gooooootime, leg, KartikPrabhu and jihaisse joined the channel
Loqijeremycherfas: [jgmac1106] left you a message 11 hours, 9 minutes ago: thanks for the comment on Ben's podcast. I walked in the door from work and he said, "I don't know who Jeremy is but I need to record another episode for him"
petermolnar[kevinmarks: re tumblr mess - how are people making a living off tumblr? I'm seriously asking it, from my point of view, tumblr is not offering any way of monetization at all
jgmac1106wonder how I do this to add to microcast.club? The following information was missing from your podcast feed: Podcast artwork. Please make sure your podcast name, website and artwork are all listed in your podcast RSS feed.
LoqiA recommendation engine is software or a service that recommends things to people based on their behavior or people that have behaved like them in the past, like the features of sites that say things like people that bought this also bought that, or liked, or followed, etc https://indieweb.org/recommendations
petermolnarI know; I keep wondering if we should build a hub, based on indiewebring, with some reasonable smart content detection (including image content evaluation) for recommendations

kisik21I don't think it's a silo, since it seems to store data locally, judging by the description. But I doubt it supports open web standards such as h-cards.
petermolnarkisik21: a long while ago I tried dealing with translations but I never actually had the time. My personal opinion is that it's perfectly fine to post translations as separate posts. As for language: I use python langdetect to detect the language of a certain post and indicate the language in the <html> tag on the post page, also on the <article> element on a feed page
petermolnarok, so from a very brief look, I seem to be right: when you sign up to follow someone, it creates a special user role, a friend, with a feed url, and it copies the feed posts over into your own WP
jgmac1106jeremycherfas it looks like all the exclude a keyword or category from an rss feed are third party services so there must be some way to do it.
jeremycherfasLooks like you could exclude a tag with an extra test in the loop at line 49 of `jsonfeed/shell.tpl.php`. I'm going to add that to my list of things to break.
[jgmac1106]yeah i get this error but the link and category tags close: error on line 17 at column 49: Opening and ending tag mismatch: link line 0 and itunes:category
[dave][kevinmarks] Is your rel=me verifier Chrome plugin open-source? I just added it and the icon looks odd on my dark theme, and I'd like to issue a PR with a transparent version if you'd be open to that.
