you've got too many projects sknebel! :-D

oh look I'm back
#
sknebel
nah, that's not code I maintain, I just tweaked a template on the wiki to fix one problem and caused another in the process :D

kisik21 Upload Filters is the "EU style" to prevent "problematic content" to be published in the web. I see the simple problem that a machine and not a judge has to decide what is "problematic" - see https://edri.org/terrorist-content-regulation-civil-rights-groups-raise-major-concerns/
#
kisik21
oh, this is seriously problematic

I thought about that idea of topic-base-webrings, found this: https://cloud.google.com/natural-language/docs/reference/rest/v1beta2/documents/classifyText with https://cloud.google.com/natural-language/docs/categories - it's a set of predefined categories, so it's a mix of machine tagging and a library system. While I still don't want google to dictate the web, this sounds like something useful for cross-site discovery

and because it's automated detection, the human factor of chaotic folksonomy would be reduced

(sidenote: I never thought a mere documentation page can be slow, Google managed to do so)

Good morning

[jgmac1106]
@petermolnar going to put three topical p-categories in my h-card today to help with discovery
#
[jgmac1106]
Maybe if enough people did [grantcodes] could add a hashtag filter to the h-card directory
#
[jgmac1106]
Yesterday's challenge in the h-card games... Though I award no points to [eddie] or @zegnat was a six word memour p-note
#
GWG
What is this...an h-card arms race?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "this...an h-card arms race" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "this...an h-card arms race is ____", a sentence describing the term)

I do not accept any of these h-card games ’til 2018 starts :P

Ha ha... Well you are 11 months behind
#
[jgmac1106]
I will keep track of the ideas.... Can make it a fun community game
#
[jgmac1106]
I new your internet was slow but the clocks too?
#
[jgmac1106]
Aren't you in Sweden? Clocks is what you do.

Isn't that Swiss?

Yes nobody said as "reliable as a Swedish clock"

petermolnar - I would prevent google dictating too and recommend https://github.com/spencermountain/compromise instead. I am working on a similar thing but with limited categories (the google list is very detailed, so it needs work), my categories for now : https://gist.github.com/sebilasse/026734b33b9a1c45c46efffa95d4d783

[jgmac1106]
@zegnat I need to check and make sure it has utility but I am going to link my p-category to a hashtag query in engine @snarfed shared
#
petermolnar
sl007 I agreed that G shouldn't dictate, but neither of those lists are a complete alternative, including the automatic, machine analysis

there is something from IBM Watson, but knowing that Tumblr is using that to flag content, and how utterly incorrect it is, I might skip that

[lmkg] > from an established enterprise tech company My first guess, based on basically nothing at all, was that this was an IBM Watson project. 0.3 seconds of Googling found that IBM has already published a case study on their website about Verizon ...

The focus of this year’s #futureofspeech forum is online communities. I’ll be on a panel later this morning about the success and challenges of platforms created for specific communities. e.g., AO3 :) #foso18 https://twitter.com/cendemtech/status/1071041890915631104

Is ↩ better than 💬 as a symbol for "reply/comment" button?
Erkan_Yilmaz, KartikPrabhu, [pfefferle] and friedcell joined the channel
#

kisik21, personally I identify that symbol as a “go back” symbol. That’s also how I and some other people use it at the end of footnotes to mark up the link back into the main text.
#

Of course all that symbol stuff is subjective :)

Hola all. Has anyone done any investigation into combining Syndication with Notification? E.g. with Tumblr's main content you're seeing a syndicated list of posts you subscribe to, and you can immediately interact with Like, Comment, Repost (w/w'out Comment). I couldn't see anything in the Mimcrosub/ Notification specs that combined them.
#
aaronpk
are you describing how the interaction in a reader works?
#
[relapse]
Very much so. When you're reading content syndicated from other sources, being able to interact with the sources from the reader page (like, reply, repost). Is that all your work based on your thoughts or is there a standard?
#
aaronpk
yep that's all built into the various reader apps!
#
aaronpk
it's a combination of several specs. I believe that post goes into the details
