I think I can figure something out with Trakt->Zapier->MicroPub
#
[Rose]
(I wrote my own micropub endpoint, and it works at least with Quill!)
#
Loqi
Rose has 2 karma in this channel over the last year (11 in all channels)
#
[Rose]
Thanks 😄
#
[Rose]
It's rather crazy, the details belong in dev, however I doubt anyone else will take this entirely as is, except maybe [jeremycherfas] 😛
#
[Rose]
And now, sleep!

Very pleased with this. Now I can use fancy iOS apps to mark shows and movies as watched and have them automatically recorded on my website.
#
[cleverdevil]
This is going to make my monthly recaps even cooler!
IRCsum, [relapse], snarfed and KartikPrabhu joined the channel
#
[relapse]
Inspired, started toying with a monthly recap page too. So far it just has my Code::Stats but... pretty graph.
#
jacky
!tell [cleverdevil] do you use stuff like Trakt or TVShowTime for tracking? I've been using the former to handle my TV watching
#
Loqi
Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next
#
[relapse]
I believe [cleverdevil] was using Trakt.

[cleverdevil]
I just now started using Trakt, [Jacky_See].
#
[cleverdevil]
I paid for a Trakt Pro account, which gives me access to an Atom feed of my watch history.
#
[cleverdevil]
I whipped up a quick script that I run periodically via cron which takes new watch notifications off the feed and creates entries for them on my website.
#
[cleverdevil]
I currently use a Trakt client on iOS called Watcht, which is pretty decent so far.
#
jacky
[cleverdevil]: Gotcha! Trakt's so worth the fee imo

#
[cleverdevil]
Definitely. Trakt is awesome so far. I’m extremely impressed.

I currently track what I eat and drink on my site. I’m thinking about building a health assistant that watches my eat/drink posts and if I have goals like “drink X water throughout the day” or something similar that I can have it push Notifications to my reader to be like “hey, drink some water!”
#
[eddie]
It won’t be able to be SUPER detailed because I don’t drink nutrition info
#
[eddie]
But it could comment on if I keep eating the same item all the time or am missing a log of a particular item that I want to consume
#
[cleverdevil]
I’m still hoping to eventually hook into the iOS Health system and store outputs in my website (privately).
#
[cleverdevil]
But, I’m not nearly enough of an iOS expert :P

#
[eddie]
I definitely still want to do that. I feel like the storage in my website is the hurtle that holds me back. Haha I feel like I need to have a better idea of what that looks like within my website’s storage before I jump off that ledge
[tantek] joined the channel
#
[tantek]
what in particular are you trying to store?
[metbril], KartikPrabhu and [eddie] joined the channel
#
[eddie]
This could quickly turn dev lol but I feel safe discussing the type of info. How many steps I take (by hour by day but if it’s by day I would want to update periodically throughout the day), minutes of exercise by day, weight by day, sleep time by day,
#
[eddie]
Lol and I just realized that was an hour after the fact. Oh well 🙂
#
[tantek]
right, we can keep it at a high(er) level by talking about what you'd like to display/show on your posts
#
[eddie]
It’s less about showing on the individual posts and more related to for example a daily, weekly or monthly recap
#
[tantek]
sounds like you want either (or both?) exercise/weight/sleep actions, and a daily summary thereof
#
[eddie]
Yes that sounds correct
#
[eddie]
Probably both
#
[tantek]
I think that's the harder (and more important) part to figure out - what do you want to show, and how often
#
[tantek]
maybe even a rough sketch of what you'd like it to look like, just summary numbers, or graphs/charters
#
[tantek]
charts* etc.
#
[eddie]
Ahh interesting
#
[eddie]
That’s a good question
#
[eddie]
Definitely weight and sleep would likely be similar to a standard post that would show up in a stream
#
[tantek]
maybe take a look at existing examples?
#
[tantek]
what is weight
#
[tantek]
what is sleep
#
Loqi
sleep is a passive metrics post type that indicates how much time (and often a graph of how deeply) a person has slept https://indieweb.org/sleep
#
Loqi
weight is a type of metrics post documenting the weight of a person at a specific time https://indieweb.org/weight
#
[eddie]
I definitely think my idea of sleep mirrors aaronpk’s (as well as Apple’s and FitBit)
#
[eddie]
Should probably get some screenshots of those on the sleep page
#
[tantek]
yeah! that would be a good start
#
[tantek]
If some aspects of those examples start to resonate with you, you could start to note them in a Brainstorming section on those page(s)
#
[eddie]
That makes sense
#
[eddie]
Then figure out the storage after the fact based on the desired outcome
#
[eddie]
Which makes sense because I thought I wouldn’t want a step count to show up as a post, but if sleep shows up as a post after I finish sleeping, why would my step counts show up after I’ve been sedentary for a while
#
[eddie]
And when I think about many common graphs that might appeal to me, I might need more granular step counts than by day
#
[eddie]
But when I thought storage first it felt like anything more than by day was too complicated so I ruled it all out
#
[eddie]
Thanks, tantek! Lots to think about 🤔

For movies, I'm using a ifftt flow to pesos from lettrboxd. For TV shows, I really would love a ownyourtrakt option.

Hi everybody, I'll wait until the end of the week before cancelling https://indieweb.org/2019/Vlissingen - I expect 4 people including me [for now]. Want to prevent that it is "no success" it would be better to take the kids with me and make some holidays. It feels sad that you can fill a whole Amphitheatre by showing some photos and do many workshops there but nobody seems to be interested in coding together.

[Rose] the health info? I’m not currently automating the export as I haven’t figured out what all I need and how often
#
[eddie]
[Rose] The plan is to just build an iOS app that periodically sends the health info from HealthKit to my website once the destination info if figured out

Just got my Plex server scrobbling to Trakt!
#
[cleverdevil]
(Which then causes history to show up on my website. Whee!)
#
jacky
nice! full automation :)
#
[cleverdevil]
Even better: when I play something on my Plex in my living room, and its after sunset, all of the lights dim automatically until I pause or stop 😉

nice! I hooked up that light thing too :)

I also require my presence, since my wife hates the lights going on and off automatically 😄
#
aaronpk
ooh how do you do that?
#
[cleverdevil]
HomeKit rules.
#
aaronpk
ah nice, I haven't actually used homekit
#
[cleverdevil]
Its surprisingly good, especially if you install homebridge for custom stuff.
#
[cleverdevil]
(This is how I power https://🐷.ws)

the bridge really doesn't like emoji urls it seems :D
