aaronpkI started following some hashtags on Instagram and now the posts are showing up in my reader but some of them have brands posting to the hashtag and it's super disorienting to see basically ads in my indieweb reader 😂
metbril, KartikPrabhu, IRCsum, wolftune, benwerd and [tantek] joined the channel
jihaisse, benwerd, mickael, ichoquo0Aigh9ie, [tantek], mickael_, benwerd_, petermolnar, petermolnar_, iasai and rubenverborgh joined the channel; petermolnar left the channel
rubenverborghIt's still interesting that you seem to know my intentions better than I do myself ("clearly implicitly asks for unpaid contributions") and turn those assumptions into truth, but I can live with that
rubenverborgh(I notice a lot of articles of other technologies start with a "Criticisms" section; finding overlaps first and then arguing why Indieweb tech is better, might convince more strongly)
rubenverborgh@tantek Regarding https://ruben.verborgh.org/articles/redecentralizing-the-web/, you probably have missed that this is a chapter in a book on the work of TimBL. IndieWeb isn't part of that; not a value judgement at all, just a matter of scope.
petermolnarrubenverborgh: I tried to reply in the #indieweb-chat channel yesterday, but it looks like I misread the presence list there, so: in my personal view, "fixing" the web comes off rough and snarky when userbases, such as China, which is a whole different world, mostly without websites, but with insanely integrated Wechat bots, or as Japan, where Geocities lived nearly 10 more years, etc. are not involved or seemingly not been thought
[jgmac1106]Reading about mapping webmentions gave me an idea. Maybe you and sl007 could look at /post-types or /post-type-discovery algorithm and brainstorm how mf2 would map onto LD stuff like Inrupt
[tantek]Rubenverborgh, not interested in any cult of personality books, whether on Tim or me or anyone else. If it’s about Tim then say “history of Tim’s work” rather than “history of decentralization” as if it is definitive
