!tell asuh your Webmention submission form doesn't seem to work - it's saying "target is not on this domain". I peeked into the source on the page (namely https://asuh.com/friends-list/) and it looks like it's using a relative URI. I made it absolute and it worked!
#
Loqi
Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next

[Micah] As I transition back onto my personal website, I want to find a way to have a personal friends list to connect with here: a list of trusted connections that will receive exclusive blog posts. It’s a challenge I haven’t yet solved but I have some ...

petermolnar, what are you looking at?

ohh I see it, the links are bad. No idea how that happened. I blame php. Switch the name for the number

and I'll fix those links post haste xD cheers

I was trying to find an example site that's using something else (as well) for vocabulary besides schema.org
#
petermolnar
so far, I'm failing
#
petermolnar
oh, for author markup
#
petermolnar
not generally
#
rhiaro
mine uses AS2, but you have to ask for it
#
Zegnat
Or rather than asking for AS2, not asking for HTML does the trick, or did you change that with the new design?
#
Zegnat
remembers some stuff broke because of rhiaro.co.uk defaulting to JSON-LD responses
#
petermolnar
btw nice redesign rhiaro
#
rhiaro
it defaults to JSON-LD yeah, with the rationale that if you want html you're a browser and they send Accept headers
#
rhiaro
of course that logic doens't hold when you're an mf2 parser who doesn't send accept headers
#
rhiaro
but that's what you get :p
#
rhiaro
thanks petermolnar, the bar for improvement over the last design was extremly low xD
#
Zegnat
Interesting idea: replacing links on old blogpost with wayback machine links by default (assuming linkrot after a certain amount of time) https://www.jwz.org/blog/2019/02/waybackify/
#
petermolnar
that's... actually pretty smart
#
petermolnar
that design though, it brings me back to phpnuke
#
Zegnat
jwz probably hasn’t changed his design in the last 20 years, ha

rhiaro been enjoying the lit review section of your dissertation, I always came at identity from a #literacies lens it was nice to expand the literature base with your explorations
#
jgmac1106
posted in wrong room, that is twice in two days for me
#
rhiaro
there are so many directions to come at identity from, narrowing down that lit review was agony
#
jgmac1106
yeah I study critical evaluation #credweb stuff so I get the post modern russian literary viewpoints, want to really dive deep into your sources there
#
jgmac1106
bc so many I have never read in your dissertation
#
jgmac1106
either way you did an awesome, really enjoying reading the whole thing, not somethign people say about dissertations ever

yeah throw the generation map out as it will be educators who turn to indieweb first mainly bc we never left, teachers and educators only weirdos who kept blogging last 15 years
#
jgmac1106
wow as I was moving the indieweb ring link back to my new homepage I scrolled through the ring….there are so many people active who are’t active here…I made it to 14 before someone broke the ring..didn’t know him enough to throw shade..so that is good

Mikaela
Hi, I am not sure where I should ask this, but can I somehow use rel=me with Pleroma? I didn't find a way to even get normal link linkified and I see that one of the Pleroma authors supports rel=me <https://glitch.social/@gcupc/100613354693156448>. I keep comparing it to Mastodon where I got that green checkmark simply by filling a box. I should probably say that I am not running my own instance and I joined Pleroma just yesterday, so I guess
#
Mikaela
it's possible the admin is missing something.

#
[kevinmarks]
what is your pleroma URL?
#
[kevinmarks]
in my experience pleroma doesn't have much on their HTML pages
#
Mikaela
https://social.libre.fi/mikaela and somehow today plain URL got linkified
#
[kevinmarks]
but if we can get kaniini to add it that's great
#
[kevinmarks]
the url is linked, but only by js - the HTML is just a shell
#
[kevinmarks]
so for rel=me parsing to work it would need links in the HTML
#
[kevinmarks]
if you want to file a pleroma issue I'm happy to help support it
#
Loqi
[Kevin Marks] hm, no rel=me support in profiles here
#
[kevinmarks]
wait, how did Loqi get that?
#
jacky
I think that Pleroma responds differently depending on the user agent

Thanke [kevinmarks] and jacky, I found https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/issues/423 from one month ago, time for me to register on yet another GitLab isntance :D
#
aaronpk
they really need to add indieauth support so that you don't have to register on each one
#
Mikaela
That is something I have been wondering by the way, should all GitLab instances I am on be listed on mikaela.info with rel=me? I have a todo to cut the list by throwing <hX> in the middle and grouping them by category.
#
aaronpk
no, what really should happen is they shouldn't require that you have an account there
#
aaronpk
ideally you could leave a comment on an issue the same way you can comment on someone's site from your own. the more realistic short-term solution is that you can use your website to sign in to any gitlab without having to sign up first. the same way you sign in to the https://indieweb.org wiki without having to make an account.
#
Mikaela
but while waiting for that happen, should I add a link from my domain to my git.pleroma.social account?'
#
aaronpk
I guess? I don't really know what that would do
#
jacky
I mean you can but it wouldn't add anything
#
Mikaela
I see, thanks. I think they would "strengthen" my identity by being more places linkable together by a human if for some reason someone attempted to pretend to be me
#
jacky
If Gitlab uses something like OmniAuth; then a patch to use something like omniauth-indieauth in Gitlab could work
#
jacky
maybe
#
[kevinmarks]
gitlab seems to link back with rel=me too
#
jacky
I'm still trying to get my gitea instance going with indieauth

kevinmarks, ooh is that new? do we know when gitlab added rel=me support?
#
[tantek]
I tried a search in gitlab issues, and a general google search for gitlab rel=me support and couldn't find anything
#
[tantek]
kevinmarks could you add an example of a gitlab profile with rel=me support?
#
Mikaela
<a class="text-link" target="_blank" rel="me noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://mikaela.info/">mikaela.info/</a>
#
Mikaela
oh, sorry, I misunderstood the question, good night
#
[tantek]
Mikaela++ thank you!
#
Loqi
Mikaela has 1 karma over the last year
#
Mikaela
or not :D you're welcome :)
#
[tantek]
aaronpk perhaps file an issue requesting IndieAuth support? I couldn't find one: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues?scope=all&utf8=%E2%9C%93&state=opened&search=indieauth
#
aaronpk
i've been thinking about that
#
aaronpk
i think before i file an issue, i want to write up another blog post similar to my "OAuth for the Open Web" one which talks specifically about the use cases for gitlab/gogs/gitea/etc that it would enable
#
aaronpk
otherwise i'm asking people to do too much research themselves to really understand the benefit. or i have to write the whole blog post in the issue.
[kevinmarks] joined the channel
#
[kevinmarks]
Write the issue the n posse the blog post as a comment?
#
[tantek]
aaronpk, your IndieAuth presentation you gave at the w3c workshop was quite good for that
#
Mikaela
Sorry for unrelated question, but is Loqi looking at nicks or freenode accounts for voicing? https://indieweb.org/Loqi didn't mention it or I am getting too sleepy, I wonder as I sometimes have more than one nick even without Matrix. I think the page where I added myself talked about nicks, but there would still be 30 seconds window to spam with the nick even using enforce, which some spammers actually did last year
#
[tantek]
so you could write the issue as a summary request, linking to that for more details, and promise that a blog post with more details on use-cases is forthcoming
#
[tantek]
that way you could get the ball rolling
#
KartikPrabhu
Mikaela I think nicks from /irc-people
#
[tantek]
no worries Mikaela, for questions about Loqi / IRC / the wiki etc. please chat join the #indieweb-meta channel - thanks! (more details on channels at indieweb.org/discuss )
#
Mikaela-
hmm, so Matrix-me wouldn't get voiced?
#
[tantek]
-> meta please!
#
Mikaela
Thanks, I will. And that seems to have answered my question (it's acccount). I didn't understand what was meta from the descripion
