I know there are others whose sites support /ActivityPub but don't see a lot of documentation/examples other than some links to snarfed's /Bridgy_Fed. I think aaronpk does... jacky does yours too, or were you just considering it?
#
jacky
I'm still considering it [chrisaldrich]

there's a bit of an engineering challenge for me to go through

wow pleroma appears to be js;dr, e.g. http://web.archive.org/web/20190210051200/https://pleroma.site/notice/2967381 is blank and has just a snippet of content in meta tags and nothing else
#
[tantek]
js;dr << [[Pleroma]] appears to be js;dr, bad enough to result in blank Internet Archive pages e.g. http://web.archive.org/web/20190210051200/https://pleroma.site/notice/2967381 (even with JS) is blank compared to the original https://pleroma.site/notice/2967381

so, manual vs automatic summaries for posts, what UX is good for that? expectations?
#
[tantek]
when is a note too long to be a note?
#
Loqi
what
#
jacky
lol loqi
#
jacky
and yeah that's the question
#
jacky
I feel like this enters the world of how to "structure" text
#
jacky
this probably prompted the evolution of Twitter "threads"
#
jacky
each post being a expandable moment
#
[tantek]
jacky, I used to worry more and stress about naming long notes
#
[tantek]
then I learned to stop worrying and learned to love long notes
#
jacky
lol I guess that's the yearn to "force" things into a box
#
jacky
since a long note _can_ be an article with no name
#
[tantek]
we have enough boxes in life. it's liberating to make fewer

YouTube announced they will stop recommending some conspiracy theories such as flat earth. I worked on the AI that promoted them by the *billions*. Here is why it’s a historic victory. Thread. 1/ https://bit.ly/2MMXNGn

I like mine too. It is a convertible. But my typing is not nearly as good when I am standing. Nice for scrolling through feeds and the like though.

Oh, yeah, I have only used electrical ones that were easy to switch between standing and sitting. Both my previous and my current job had me at one of those tables

Looks like discussion moved here. I love the idea for a length trigger adding a name field prompt. How about another length trigger adding a summary field prompt too? That way when a note turns into an essay you can go back and add the abstract/tl;dr and the POSSE code coping with varying length limits has a better chance of getting it right than truncation.

microblog UI for this is great ..go over 280 and you now have a post
#
Zegnat
I like Facebook’s UI (as I often do) where the font shrinks after a certain amount of text, which is their difference between a short status post and a longer text post.

Thats another interesting affordance
#
[jgmac1106]
they might occasionally get one right
#
[jgmac1106]
but at same time I can have really really long notes
#
[kevinmarks]
I hadn't realised how commodified fitness trackers have got - R bought one for £25 that has steps, sleep and heart rate built in - the ones without heart rate are £17
#
[jgmac1106]
especially when taking notes about a reading. Incoherence is much a difference between a note and and a post as length for me
#
Zegnat
Got one with HR for 25 GBP? Mind sharing? I wanted to start recording HR but the trackers that actually did that got way too expensive :/
#
Zegnat
[jgmac1106], I think that in indieweb parlance “note” just means short-untitled-post. Not sure anyone differentiates based on coherence.
#
[kevinmarks]
uses an app called dayday band, not sure what other api it has
#
[jgmac1106]
of course not zegnat. If we did then 97.54% of what everyone publishes would be a note

Is there any recommendation or suggestion on how big a profile picture should be for various purpouses? First I tried to search the web and got overwhelmed by the optimal sizes for different silos, then I started looking at Indieweb.org where https://indieweb.org/profile_photo looks like it could mention this and see alsos https://indieweb.org/icon#Why_all_the_different_sizes where there is a recommendation I was looking for, but only for icos,

while I wonder what should I put on mikaela.info and copy from there whenever I need it for somewhere.
