#yoshi5551I'm taking a look at setting up a website for IndieWeb, but I don't have time to get a permanent domain name at the moment.
#yoshi5551If I end up switching domains at some point, is there any way to associate my new website with the old one?

#mlncnyoshi5551: Pretty sure a permanent redirect is how to do it, but i can't find that documented and dealing with a change of domain seems definitely worth defining

#petermolnarwordpress went react with gutenberg, now this; I really don't like the rising monoculture of it
#petermolnarthis is returning to oldschool GUI programming btw, but now on the web, and it's certainly simpler for a coder, but that doesn't make it the correct way
#[jgmac1106]especially if you mission is educating users..not making it easier for your developers

#jackypetermolnar: I don't even know/think if it (React) is that much simpler
#jackyVue saved a team I led at my last job weeks of time (we measured it in the ramp up time of the junior devs, how much more we needed (inhouse + outhouse work), and a few other biz factors)
#jackyit's really a factor of what people are willing to invest into

#[jgmac1106]Interesting Automattic added a timeline feed to their social reader, interestingly Eddie who I never followed showed up in my feed, seems to be only titeless notes in my feed

#[eddie]Have you follow [chrisaldrich]? I wonder if he did something with one of my posts? Because I would be surprised if one of my posts appears in the Wordpress ecosystem without someone on Wordpress doing something
chrisaldrich joined the channel
#chrisaldrichThat sounds very likely.... whose avatar appears on the post?
#chrisaldrichIf you follow others who do asides and don't add titles to them, they show up properly in WordPress' reader.
#[jgmac1106]Maybe I followed you in some demo or something, but interesting more to me that WordPress is playing with status update timelines
#chrisaldrichYou definitely can subscribe to external feeds on WordPress.com though...
#[jgmac1106]i must have followed eddie at some point. It is just him, but a good overall design
#[jgmac1106]They now break the reader into Articles from people I follow, status/notes from people I follow, and recommended reads across the entire network
#[eddie]ohhhh interesting. Yeah, that looks like my feed
#[eddie]That's nice that they are working to improve and add functionality to their reader
#[jgmac1106]yeah eddie must have followed you in a tutorial or my own hacking about...WP.com is a VERY good social RSS reader I just don't use it
#chrisaldrichI'm looking at a few sample feeds and WP.com's reader is actually quite nice. Sadly their UI for sorting, managing, and maintaining feeds is lacking in comparison with inoreader, feedly, etc.
#[eddie]I'll look through and see if I can find a best month to display and add it to /monthly_recap
#chrisaldrichA few things have recently inspired me to think about to do lists, bullet journals, etc. and potentially building those into my own website by extending my list of "itches" https://boffosocko.com/kind/itch/. The key is likely having some useful archive views like monthly recaps...
#[eddie]Interesting. I've been doing a bullet journal approach for to dos lately after I read a book by the bullet journal guy
#[eddie]I definitely think something like that would be helpful with an archive view
#[eddie]I'm interested to hear your thoughts as you think that through
#mcverryj1yeah need a pomodoro/to-do micropub client if folks looking for a project
#mcverryj1but it isn’t that bad to do manually, I took last two weeks office because I am disorganized and forget but wow does productivity suffer when the clock aint in my browser
#mcverryj1like I will be on irc talking about Pomodoro rather than teaching my classes
#chrisaldrichjgmac1106++ for dedication to IndieWeb over his day job

#mcverryj1decided instead of providing an h-feed of updates for my students to follow I will embed an rss feed of posts since noone uses a social reader

#mcverryj1can’t wait though to drive everything in a reader, would have tried unicyclic but my first years start on WordPress.com
#mcverryj1oops forgot my h-card picture gone university “launched a new webiste” but it really doesn’t work it is just a wrapper to point to the old site now at www2…..because everyone knows that…ohh yeah they renamed our wireless network SSL

#chrisaldricheddie: here's an outline. I'll try to move chunks to the wiki shortly. Perhaps under "to do list" or something similar. There's already and indieweb to do hiding there....

#[eddie][chrisaldrich] I do like how your itches are individual posts on your site. I have an IndieWeb page on my site that is essentially the same as my User profile on indieweb.org, but you can add more detail to itches when they are a full post.
#chrisaldrichI don't do it often, but you can either update those pages as you move along and/or add to them by adding comments as well.
