j605 hi, I don't if this was addressed anywhere but when I looked at indiewebify or other blogs that explain the steps they use webmentions.io or other external services. I want to take out disqus and maybe even go commentless (my blog is not the read or commented anyway), but I don't understand how using webmentions.io would be better than another external service. Can some point me in the right direction :)

[kevinmarks] Several people have a "submit a comment url" form. To post a comment on their site is a bit trickier. You could default to commentpara.de to enable anonymous ones

[kevinmarks] The external services are handy for static sites, but if you want to manage the mentions yourself you can, or host your own instance of webmention.io, webmention.herokuapp.com or mention.tech

gRegorLove Some people have also saved local copies of webmentions from webmention.io. It has a pretty good API

j605 there was a post by someone who implemented it for hugo and I was following their recommendations. I will try to complete it at some point
