jackyis there like a 'demo' MF2 site that one can use? I made https://static-relme-site.jacky.wtf/ for my own purposes / testing (largely for Fortress) but curious if anyone has solutions
Loqi[indienews] New post: "The more I think about social readers; the more I realize that we’d have to come a bit like half-way for those we’d want to pull in. Like I want to finally be able to walk up to Anil Dash and ..." https://v2.jacky.wtf/post/197a97c2-7f92-4212-80b8-5a8ef5ebda3e
wolftune, barpthewire, iasai, cweiske, buc, jihaisse, swentel, [pfefferle], sonicrocketman, swentie, botka and jeremych_ joined the channel; buc left the channel
[eddie]I'm thinking about tracking mood via emojis but does anyone know how screen readers treat emojis? Do they just read the emoji text definition for that emoji character?
[eddie]Because the other option would be deciding on text to match each emoji that could be seen to convey "emotion" and have my site present that text alongside or as a title text of the emoji
[eddie]The only thing I'm not sure about is that is Apple CarPlay and Apple (IMO) often puts more thought and intention into things that other software manufacturers. I haven't ever heard of something like that which isn't tied to Apple
[eddie]I've thought about some type of numerical tracking (like 1-5, 1-10) but that always feels artificial in some way. I'm thinking emojis are more human, less artificial and if I ever want to quantify it, I could always go through and give numerical attributes to the various emoji, positive or negative depending on if it is a positive or negative mood
[eddie]That would allow me to eventually just mathematically add up the emojis and still get a number summary for say the month without ever really thinking in numbers
[eddie]I also like the three ratings a day because it's mathematical so you can always average out the three numbers (if you have numbers associated) to get an average for the day
sknebel[eddie]: just tested: NVDA just announces the text equivalent, so for 🤦 it just says " Person Facepalming", interestingly enough without any indication that it'S an emoji, at least from a text field
[tantek]as far as tracking emotions / mood on a daily basis, the most accuracy (to actual) has come from those apps that randomly ask you at different times of the day how you are feeling, and letting you pick quickly from a preset list (to reduce the cognitive load, time you spend thinking about what you are feeling thus altering how you are feeling)
aaronpki used to have a little dashboard site like whereisfelix.today. that was before i was posting notes and photos on my own site, back when it was mostly a portfolio site and blog
[grantcodes]And RE mood tracking, a friend of mine made a really cool font that just shows words as straight lines but negative words are waves, so you get a quick visualization of how negative a piece of text is: http://lab.rc3.me/moriarty/
eddiehinkle[tantek] That's exactly what I've thought about actually, having a Micropub client with a preset list of emojis that pops up at the times of day that you set it up for
sknebelgenerally, there's nowadays a bunch of free screen readers, so you can reasonably test at least some things with them. I say some things since "starting a screen reader" and "making proper use of it" is quite a learning curve, but it's been interesting to try use my site with one
jgmac1106stealing an idea from rhiaro I switched my name on twitter to my url already trying to @ mention people by url and I like the way it looks: https://twitter.com/jgmac1106
tw2113main thing i know of is that i have https://trexthepirate.com/me/ and it has a PayPal.me link, curious to see if anyone ever actually uses it just cause :D
aaronpki've seen either having people log in to your site and some posts are only visible after logging in, or creating a private mailing list and pushing those posts out via email
aaronpkpodcasts also do this with "private" feeds which are really just a secret URL that is shared with subscribers, to either provide special members-only episodes or special updates from their blog
jgmac1106ZivBK1: WordPress handles this with password protected post. Known does this with member only posts, and aaronpk already described the semi-private url
