Hello, IndieWeb!
#
[cleverdevil]
Been super busy and haven’t checked in much lately.
#
[Rose]
You're still alive though!
#
[Rose]
And you were talked about, specifically your Switch script 😛
#
[cleverdevil]
I did have my first successful user of ditchbook for a Micro.blog site, other than my wife :d
#
[cleverdevil]
Did someone get my Switch script working for themself too?
#
[Rose]
No, there was interest. And we made a page for it
#
[Rose]
What is Nintendo Switch?
#
Loqi
Nintendo Switch is a gaming console by Nintendo https://indieweb.org/Nintendo_Switch
#
[Rose]
Your script is linked there 🙂
#
[cleverdevil]
You’ll appreciate this: I got myself an iPad Pro this weekend after some successful business travel turned into enough Amazon rewards to cover most of the cost :D
#
[cleverdevil]
My experimentation with iOS as a developer platform is underway ;)
#
Loqi
😊
#
[Rose]
I expect great things from you!
#
[Rose]
Or rather, things.

[cleverdevil]: I started and didn't get finished, it ddn't look difficult and I was fetching results
#
[cleverdevil]
@Ruxton on the Switch script?
#
Ruxton
[cleverdevil]: yeah
#
Ruxton
my biggest annoyance is the timing being dependent on the sync :(
#
[cleverdevil]
Yeah that’s a Nintendo problem unfortunately.
#
[cleverdevil]
Well, not problem. Limitation I guess?
#
[cleverdevil]
Everything in the world needs an h-feed, atom, rss, or JSON feed :d
#
[cleverdevil]
This is one of the reasons I love Trakt so much,
#
Ruxton
ahh trakt is great, but really lacking teh last few years
#
Ruxton
they've wound features out there were great and it's really become just a tracking service and less of a discovery service
jnoh and [xavierroy] joined the channel
#
[xavierroy]
[cleverdevil] Do i need a trakt VIP account to use your trakt-micropub script?
#
[cleverdevil]
Yup. The feeds are a VIP feature.

Good morning IndieWeb
#
Ruxton
do we have a page for trakt? :)
#
Ruxton
what is trakt?
#
Loqi
trakt.tv is a silo service to automatically track what you're watching https://indieweb.org/trakt
#
Ruxton
noice
[Rose] joined the channel
#
[Rose]
Cleverdevil can you add your script to the trakt page?
#
[Rose]
What is Goodreads?
#
Loqi
Goodreads is a silo for keeping track of books, reviews, and reading progress https://indieweb.org/Goodreads
#
[Rose]
What is netflix?
#
Loqi
Netflix is a subscription service for on-demand video streaming and a silo of lists of shows you want to watch, shows you have watched, and lists of shows you like (or dislike) https://indieweb.org/Netflix
#
Ruxton
I use traktflix to sync netflix watches into to trakt
#
[Rose]
The chrome addon? I thought it only worked if you watched in Chrome
#
[Rose]
Though the Firefox extension says it syncs your history
#
[Rose]
If my boyfriend and I didn't share a profile that would work
#
[xavierroy]
I also use traktflix... It pulls in data from Netflix's watch history
#
Ruxton
nope, in netflix there's a history buried in the JS, it extracts that
#
Zegnat
Good of Netflix. I am still looking for a solution to get at my YouTube history
#
[xavierroy]
I also use an app that syncs with trakt
#
[Rose]
I usually watch things with Infuse, except Netflix
#
[Rose]
How do you even know the extension is working?
jihaisse joined the channel
#
Ruxton
traktflix doesn't scrobble anymore, you have to manually sync
#
[Rose]
But how
#
[xavierroy]
There is a button for each episode
#
Ruxton
click the extension button in browser when on netflix.com it pops up, if you're authorzed with trakt you click history and it opens a tab of your watch history
#
Ruxton
the only drama is netflix watch history is "last time you watched" not a feed of stuff you watched
#
[Rose]
There is no extension button that I can see. Hmm
#
Ruxton
so if you watch something twice between syncs, you only get 1 play
#
[Rose]
I don't use Chrome, I installed the Firefox extension
nitot and [tantek] joined the channel
#
Ruxton
Just tried installing the one for Firefox and it wont install :(
gRegorLove joined the channel
#
[Rose]
It's installed for me, but not working. I got Chrome out and this seems pretty good. I can update once a week or so for the benefits of having my history consolidated!
#
[Rose]
And I can ignore the things my boyfriend watched without me.
#
[xavierroy]
else you can find an app that syncs with trakt and checkin whenever you watch something
#
[Rose]
I have that, but the problem is doing the work
#
[Rose]
Speaking of which, meeting time!

I just made some direction signs for the coming IWC. I want to attach them outside, near the venue etc. It's a Sketch file and I'm happy to share it for future events. What would be a good place on the wiki to put it? https://indieweb.org/Organizers/event_pages looks a bit outdated? Maybe https://indieweb.org/IndieWebCamp_Organizing#During?

[cleverdevil] I can't seem to get the Indiepaper Shortcut working. Using Aperture as my micropub and have copy and pasted the authorization code in. But when I run the code it is not working. What should I check for? By the way Indiepaper is working fine on the Mac.

Good morning, IndieWeb. This article contains nuthin you don't already know, but it's on-topic it has some very nicely worded perspective. I enjoyed it. https://www.wired.com/story/why-we-love-tech-defense-difficult-industry/

With an Aperture API key?
#
aaronpk
Woohoo congrats on the talk Tantek!
jackjamieson and [cleverdevil] joined the channel
#
[cleverdevil]
[kim_landwehr] strange! Have you tried saving the same website to Indiepaper on both the desktop and using the Shortcut?
#
[cleverdevil]
There are some sites that Indiepaper doesn't support.
#
[kim_landwehr]
Yes, I set up Indiepaper by signing into https://aperture.p3k.io and getting its token and adding both to the shortcut where requested
#
[cleverdevil]
So, with Aperture, you need to login and create an "API Key"
#
[cleverdevil]
Login to Aperture, click on the channel that you want to save articles to, and then find the button at the top right that says "New API Key"
#
[cleverdevil]
Click that, and create an API Key, then copy and paste that into the shortcut under "Authorization"
[schmarty], snarfed, gRegorLove, nitot and [kim_landwehr] joined the channel
#
[kim_landwehr]
So I don't use the token created in Details on the Indiepaper website, but create a new one in Aperture?
snarfed, snarfed1, jnoh, KartikPrabhu, nitot, gRegorLove_, [Rose], Lauven and [cleverdevil] joined the channel
#
[cleverdevil]
Correct. You create an API Key in Aperture.
#
[cleverdevil]
Its a special key which is used as the token for micropub to write to a specific channel in Aperture.
