I'm not certain I like the Dweb term, it's too close to dweeb.
#
prtksxna
Yeah, slightly better when written as DWeb though…

[tantek]
petermolnar, yes, about once a month I see someone new refer to dweb as dweeb. It's got lots of other problems, and that one in particular doesn't really make it sound particularly inclusive.
#
petermolnar
indweb, that's the sound one makes spitting out the coffee over a good ol' rage comics
#
petermolnar
other topic though: are there any desktop micropub implementations yet? Mainly for static generators, because having a service running for this kind of defeats the static site idea.
#
petermolnar
I a desktop mean client + server that outputs ready-made documents

petermolnar: which side of micropub are you referring to when you say desktop micropub implementations?

[schmarty]: I was thinking of a local gui for static generators (local can be via web interface, synthing-like): still does the indieauth dance, the micropub queries towards the site, but generates output locally, into configured location, maybe even in yaml + markdown format, or something similar
#
petermolnar
if I ever get enough capacity, I might do something along these lines
#
[schmarty]
interesting. my personal PHP-based micropub server does the local output in yaml+markdown thing, but i run it on a server, and it automatically rebuilds and deploys my site each time.

petermolnar, [schmarty]: we try to keep dev talk out of this channel, can you move to #indieweb-dev?

For those who may be interested, I'm presenting a poster about IndieWeb (specifically Bridgy) at the Social Media and Society Conference in Toronto this weekend. http://socialmediaandsociety.org/

I've put the poster and a related draft paper on my site: https://jackjamieson.net/smsociety19

Big thanks to snarfed for taking time to talk about Bridgy's development with me, and for providing feedback on a previous draft of the paper
#
[snarfed]
jackjamieson++ yay! the draft paper is an amazing deep dive into bridgy's love/hate history with the silos. highly recommended. congrats!
