#jeremycherfasHello again IndieWeb. Back from a couple of weeks away and wondering how people here are reacting to the news about Zoom. I checked the wiki, and nothing there seems to have changed.
#jeremycherfasAnd wondering whether, after the fixes issued by Apple, people are still happy to use Zoom for many IndieWeb remote events.

#[jgmac1106]We have actual use cases of people asking not to be on Google servers. The Zoom duat up seemed like bad PR around a flaw that was then patched after more bad PR
#jgmac1106meant that me personally am okay with using it, especially since we have community members who have asked their images not be be on Google servers, and because of issues withe recommendation issue
#jgmac1106Zoomn totally blew their response as a compnay is all I was saying
#jgmac1106the security bug is patched but the privacy concerns of Google remain
#jgmac1106though I would also have to assume (total uneducation speculation) that the big video machine learnign databases crawl for all public domain videos any way
#jeremycherfasI see. I'm far less interested in the smoke blowing than I am in the actual impact on my computer and my use of it.
#jgmac1106that part is fixed, first pushed by Apple and then in a Zoom update
#jgmac1106another case of reducing all the friction always allows bad stuff to slip through
#jgmac1106also “I have 2,947 blog followers from twenty-four countries in North America, South Asia, Africa, and South America.” people, especially the teacher crowd still follow blogs
