#[KevinMarks]ActivityPub includes activity streams, which was a very inclusive kitchen sink spec, trying to unify a lot of use cases (eg Jira outputs activity streams) mastodon was originally on OStatus which is more about notes

#[snarfed]the mod's reply on fluffy's post seems pretty reasonable. they've deliberately designed it to be 100% public, so they don't current support anything less. (i'm obviously partial to intentional design decisions like that w/bridgy.)
