#
[jgmac1106]
Hey crab, hope all is dafe and healthy your way
#
crab
yep. if we ignore news from the outside world, we can pretend that life in our little village is normal.

#
[jgmac1106]
installing a wiki now, spent time looking for research notes I spewed all over my websites...gonna try adding a wiki for my unfolding thinking projects
#
crab
which wiki software are you using?
#
[jgmac1106]
doku wiki, lot of people like tiddlywiki as well...i think that is what it is called...I am done playing with mediawiki for small projects

Hey [jgmac1106] - I've been doing some wiki gardening, going through some old stream posts and putting them into the wiki
#
doubleloop
How are you liking DokuWiki so far?
#
[jgmac1106]
so far so good "http://longthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/doku.php?id=start"
#
[jgmac1106]
I didn't realize all the blogging plugins that exist, be way easy to make an IndieWeb blog with webmentions using dokuwiki
#
[jgmac1106]
but don't eant to get bogged down in that..need to garden, not install the brick patio right now
#
doubleloop
Hey, that's cool that DokuWiki is just plain text files behind the scenes
#
doubleloop
Also very cool that there's blog plugins for it. I'm really seeing the perks of close links between stream and wiki.
#
doubleloop
I'm currently very manual til it hurts on that, using two very separate systems - but it's still working good
#
[jgmac1106]
tried this the blogging plugin I tried is deprecated, looks pretty easy where I could just add IndieWeb stuff to the custom theme...but now rabbit hols have me avoiding goals, will try a different one: https://www.dokuwiki.org/template:twentyfifteen

Hey Neil. How you doing?
#
[jgmac1106]
Hey Neil got this far, but going back to my original goal of curating my research: http://longthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/doku.php?id=blog but adding correct metadat would take someone who knew php just a bit of effort

Diving into debugging my CSS

I'm good thanks jeremycherfas :) Enjoying indieweb life
#

Good luck with the CSS!

[jgmac1106]: looks like DokuWiki could be a nice indie blog/wiki platform if the indie building blocks could be layered on successfully.
#
[jgmac1106]
yeah I am playing now...not curating my notes....like I should
#
doubleloop
Plain-text but still dynamic.. pretty cool
#
doubleloop
Hehe, maybe if you curate some notes about playing with DokuWiki, then it all counts

jgmac1106, what's make doku wiki more suitable for your project now? I do love wiki-projects and also use it as a way to store everything, but I've only tried MW
hs0ucy joined the channel
#
[jgmac1106]
MW too hard for me to natain, dokuwiki was just avaliable to me in installatron, just fooling around
#
[jgmac1106]
wasn't supposed to do the blog stuff
#
dmitry
`natain` means `maintain`?
#
[jgmac1106]
I can do tikiwiki, dokuwiki, mediawiki, and wakkawiki from Installatron
#
dmitry
never tried anything but MW. probably should do for a next project, just for fun
#
dmitry
would be interesting to compare
#
[jgmac1106]
I always used wikispaces, had hundreds of book reviews written by hundreds of people
#
[jgmac1106]
just starting back up with wikis for my class and I thought...this might make more sense for my long thoughts versus trying to sift through my quick thoughts

...I did get distracted and try to add microformats and webmentions...failed on both attempts...but something to tinker with lot of xml kruft lying arond though in Doku, can explain more in Dev...but as a wiki it works well

Hey folks... could I ask for a tech review of a long article about Webmention I'd like to publish on Fogknife.com? It's a longer one (2,200 words) and I wanna make sure I didn't mis-describe the details about how it all works: https://jmac.org/misc/2020-03-webmention.html
#
jmac
(The stuff about webmentions already sent by the page are not true, of course, because I haven't published it yet)
#

(And please don't link to it yet! this is just a draft)

Hey cool, I just got a webmention from mastodon.social of link posted to an old article. I guess the person must have manually pinged me on my page. I didn't see any news of Mastodon supporting webmentions all of a sudden..

oh sorry, doubleloop is your mastodon account on bridgy too? if so this wm will probably show up on your user page, not theirs
#
[snarfed]
hmm yeah https://brid.gy/mastodon/@neil@social.coop but not there. ok, not sure if it was bridgy. probably yes though
#

[snarfed]: nice! The webmention showed up as a comment on the article.

Today I hand-washed an old bandana I found in the back of a closet and paired it with a couple of scrounged rubber bands and made a really dumb looking DIY mask. In true IndieWeb fashion.
#
jacky
I'm seeing that be the go-to method nowadays

jacky
might have to find one of my old ones to use for this
