Got my old blog up and running again probably because it’s nice to have some element of control over some part of life and websites are generally pretty easy.

Hello all! I'm trying to set up WebSub publishing, but I seem to be missing something important and nothing works. I'm pretty sure I've read the related wiki pages through and through, but it didn't help. Is there a forum or a channel or some other place to ask for help in this matter?
#
jacky
nekr0z: you're in the place for it
#
jacky
what's up?
#
jacky
granted this might be a dev-y question so get ready to go to #indieweb-dev if need be
#
KartikPrabhu
yes #indieweb-dev
#
nekr0z
jacky: thanks. So, basically I'm just trying to WebSub-publish from my blog using Superfeedr, nothing fancy.
#
nekr0z
I go up to websub.rocks/publisher and subscribe to https://evgenykuznetsov.org/tags/test/index.xml - it says everything is allright and it is waiting for notifications
#
nekr0z
then I put up a new post there, so the feed updates, and then I curl -X POST https://evgenykuznetsov.superfeedr.com -d'hub.mode=publish' -d'hub.url=https://evgenykuznetsov.org/tags/test/index.xml' -D -
#
nekr0z
I get a 204 which is supposed to be expected of superfeedr. But I get nothing on websub.rocks, it's still waiting on notifications
#
nekr0z
and my superfeedr interface shows there have been pings, but the Feeds number remains zero

[fluffy]
Superfeedr only sends a ping if there’s a new item
#
[fluffy]
It’s annoying
#
[fluffy]
Like it won’t ping for changes to existing items, even
#
nekr0z
I don't mind that, I can do new items, at least for the test. But it looks like superfeedr wouldn't recognize my feed at all.
#
nekr0z
I was planning on using switchboard anyway, but I'm sticking with superfeedr for the test purposes, since I can't really test switchboard with websub.rocks because of https://github.com/aaronpk/websub.rocks/issues/23

We cheat and just use two breville bread machines, they work so well

if the end product comes out fine you're doing better than me. Mine keeps being too doughy

I read something saying I'm not leaving it to stand for long enough. I'll try that. It's cooked for over an hour. The third loaf looks the most bready, but I'll be trying steam to make it taller next
#
[LewisCowles]
turns out oil instead of butter made the best loaf so-far

is there a way to test websub publishing other than websub.rocks? Wiki says there's a Notifix bot somewhere, is it still alive?
#
jacky
not to my knowledge
#
nekr0z
Too bad. I still can not understand whether the issue is my feed or the hubs. Testing with 3 of them now. Still no luck with superfeedr (pings shown, but not feeds), phubb seems to accept but nothing in websub.rocks, and switchboard is still untestable...

What is Linktree
#
Loqi
[tantek]: [jgmac1106] left you a message 7 hours, 12 minutes ago: these might help: https://jgregorymcverry.com/readings/LakoffJohnson2003MetaphorsWeLiveBy.pdf and https://jgregorymcverry.com/readings/ling2010metaphorwar.pdf I think the common patter will turn out to be capitalism
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "Linktree" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "Linktree is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
nekr0z
I know I should be writing my own hub instead, but I just want to make sure my feed and pings work first ;)
#
[tantek]
Linktree is linktre.ee a site for publishing a flat list of links at a short vanity path (like Twitter and other [[social media]] silos) for what appears to be for the sole purpose of seeming to provide multiple links from social media profiles like Instagram which only allow one clickable link in your profile.
#
[tantek]
nekr0z, might have better luck with WebSub and other protocol-related topics in the #indieweb-dev channel

#
[tantek]
[jgmac1106] I think I lost the indieweb context on that - happy to follow-up on framing / metaphors in #indieweb-chat
#
[jgmac1106]
ohh it was your post about war metaphors from yesterday maybe? was across time zones
#
[jgmac1106]
The Lin paper, explores war as a mataphor specifically but itis built off of Lakoff, as almost all modern explorations of metaphor are...need to look for other represeentative experts as well
kensp joined the channel
#
[tantek]
my understanding is Lakoff is more about framing rather than metaphor. I realize the two overlap but they're not the same
#
[tantek]
oops mean to send that to chat. sorry
