# 00:47 krjst i just noticed that some documentation generators are doing client side rendering. this is going really bad.
# 00:52 jacky yeahh I've been on a bit of a riff about this
# 00:52 jacky people really don't care and think that the Web only lives within Google Chrome (it's a miracle if they even acknowledge other Web browsers)

# 01:43 [ColinMorris] Someone just needs to write a Chrome extension that runs Lynx in browser, then they’ll acknowledge the ecosystem.
# 01:44 vilhalmer if someone compiles lynx for webassembly I will lose my mind

# 03:13 lahacker after watching the "Tag, You're It" session and sitting in on the (unrecorded) AutoAuth discussion I feel like they (@-mentions, photo-tagging, private posts, etc) were both blocking on closely related non-technical UX
# 03:15 lahacker it's like several simple building blocks need to be built at the same time but we need to know about one to guide the other
# 03:16 lahacker i'd love to have a "Get things done" session but i fear without the necessary preparation we won't be able to just tackle it
# 03:16 lahacker well i think the current state of things is that we don't quite understand the problem
# 03:16 lahacker the harm cases in particular
# 03:17 KartikPrabhu might be more useful if it is a "get <this> done" where <this> is some specific topic which might generate more interest/motivation

# 03:17 lahacker i think we're having a hard time identifying that thing that needs to be done
# 03:18 lahacker like people who have experienced discrimination and/or marginalization through technology -- victims of broken tech -- need to describe their problems
# 03:18 lahacker and i'm sure someone somewhere has written about these topics
# 03:18 lahacker but i'm not aware
# 03:19 lahacker correct, step 1
# 03:20 lahacker because all of those features are one person poking at another
# 03:23 lahacker I believe Aaron summarized the AutoAuth during demos -- Sven's AutoAuth is technically correct but we weren't sure if someone should just get notifications of an @-mention or if there should be some kind of request for @-mentioning
# 03:24 lahacker the harm case being mobbed by jerks and your notifications system gets DOSed by hate
# 03:25 lahacker which is tech and UX very much different and yet related
# 03:26 lahacker some have mentioned lists of approved people
# 03:26 lahacker so figuring out whatever /that/ thing is that's block /those/ kinds of features
# 03:26 lahacker whatever that is -- that might be a good session

# 07:15 jacky this makes the want to refactor into a library more compelling :)
# 07:16 swentel like I explained in that issue you created: indigenous will start supporting 'account types', e.g. mastodon, pixelfed, whatever
# 07:16 swentel so these things need to be more agnostic/pluggable

# 20:52 [dave] Anyone have any recommendations on good location plugins for Wordpress? I'm trying Simple Location and it's almost perfect except it doesn't have an option to use OpenStreetMap
# 20:54 GWG Open Street Map doesn't have a static map API, does it?
# 20:54 GWG [dave]: If it does, glad to add it now
# 20:54 [dave] Maybe not, I thought it did. Just showing the location of the restaurant where a taco was consumed
# 20:55 [dave] The default provider is Wiki maps and seems to be non-functional
# 20:55 [chrisaldrich] I just updated Simple Location, so I'll have to go in and test some of the providers again...
# 20:56 [chrisaldrich] [dave] it's been six months or so since I looked, but Simple Location is one of the only/best plugins I've found for this sort of data.
# 20:56 GWG [dave]: I had a comment the other day about Wikimaps not working..I need to investigate
# 20:57 GWG [dave]: The Simple Location developer is very responsive to open issues
# 20:57 GWG [chrisaldrich]: You would agree, right?
# 20:58 GWG [dave]: Are you the taco enthusiast I met before?
# 20:59 [dave] I'm emergency migrating my taco blog from Tumblr to self-hosted Wordpress because Tumblr has decided that my home network needed to be blocked with a rate-limiting warning despite nothing I can see on any of my devices attempting to access it.
# 21:00 [dave] And the Tumblr import plugin from Wordpress kinda made a mess, so I figured since I have to go clean up all my posts anyway, why not add location data.
# 21:08 GWG [dave]: Anything I can do to help

# 21:09 GWG Simple Location is Indieweb, but it's a really geeky plugin on its own
# 21:10 [dave] The main thing with that is just that the default map provider doesn't currently seem to work, so I suppose I'll need to find one that does and set up an API key and stuff. That and after manually geocoding the restaurants I need to resist the urge to press the Lookup button
# 21:14 [dave] On the off chance you know of a plugin or script that can scrape my posts for tumblr images and download and reupload/replace them automatically, you'd be my hero.

# 22:44 [dave] I think I got things working how I like, the only unfortunate bit being that the Wordpress app allows me to look up a location by name but doesn't save the name, so I have to edit that manually.
