thinks that pull quote from Jack's thesis would actually make an awesome little microcast. I can see it, but it would help to have the knocking and laughing sound effects to really deliver it. (not to give you any ideas [jacky]) ๐Ÿ™‚

Interesting new thread/reply UI from Discord https://twitter.com/discord/status/1328412825811906560
#
@discord
When multiple conversations happen over each other, it can get kind of hectic. Replies are here to breakup the noise and will gradually roll out to all devices throughout the week! Hover over a message on desktop or long press on mobile to reply to that specific message. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Em94bF6XIAEe-Tl.png

ooh I like the little mini /reply-context inline like that with the line connecting the two account icons

The previous setup on my domain used a very strict robots.txt and other stuff to prevent search engines to index it. With my current one, I want to make it possible again. I noticed that Google does show my website when searching for myself, but DuckDuckGo seems to still see my website as forbidden. Is there a way to trigger it to reevaluate the rules?

trigger DDG or Google?
#
petermolnar
ah, ok, re-read your sentence, trigger DDG
#
petermolnar
if I recall correctly, DDG doesn't index on it's own, it's using the data from Bing in the background, so I'd try to get Bing to re-index the site
#
oenone
Okay, didnt check that yet

I would got to https://www.bing.com/webmasters/ , log in, and add a sitemap; but the internet is saying that bing tends to take 1-2months for a full re-index
#

for example, for me, it's saying the last crawl of my sitemap was at 24/03/2020

I know people who "Tweet and delete" so ephemeral posts make sense. I think it's more of a silo issue. People want their social platform of choice to have all the features, since none of the social platforms talk to each other. Or at least that's my "hot take" haha

tbh I don't think it's a concern / priority at this point
#
jacky
like this happens too often now
#
jacky
first the a11y issues with voice tweets (that of which has not been addressed _at all_)
#
jacky
now people being able to see blocked accounts b/c of the caching nature of these SPAs

what is a fleet

It looks like we don't have a page for "fleet" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "fleet is ____", a sentence describing the term)

#
jacky
maybe under the /Twitter page or if we have it, some sort of 'ephemeral' posts page?
#

even then, <shrugs>
#
Zegnat
what is stories?
#
Loqi
A story is a singular (one per profile) time stream collection post, that consists of ephemeral photo and video posts that are shown in sequence one at a time and disappear from the collection 24 hours after being added https://indieweb.org/stories
#
Zegnat
Fleet is /story
#
Zegnat
There you go? :P
#
Zegnat
Adding to silo examples now ...
#
Zegnat
Twitter is now also the only one where the "since" link points to the official announcement.
#
Zegnat
Should see if TechCrunch has written about it, just so it can match the other links
#
[tantek]
Zegnat++ nicely done, and yes jacky, definitely preferred to have a silo-specific term defined as a section of a page on the more generic (or first-established) term

Coil is a web [[payments]] startup that gives their users link tags to put on their website to get paid for people viewing your content, and in late 2020 exposed hundreds of users email addresses to each other. https://www.theregister.com/2020/11/17/coil_email_data_breach/

#
@idiot_girl
@nopressure Maybe I should have clarified (although it seems insane to have to) - when discussing a content management system with users youre usually not talking about those users being developers themselves. Git flow would make no sense here
