LoqiA Domain of One's Own (or DoOO) is a practice/movement (primarily within academia) encouraging people to have their own domain, post their content on their own website, and have greater control over their digital infrastructure https://indieweb.org/DoOO
[chrisaldrich]That OER+Domains Conference is still accepting submissions until Jan 31 if anyone wants to consider submitting an IndieWeb specific topic/session. ^^ Happy to chat about it in #indieweb-meta
[chrisaldrich]Glad to have you! Feel free to ask any questions you have or for help navigating anything. Your details give me some flashbacks to a 4 hour conversation I had yesterday with a friend finishing a Ph.D. in Ancient Near East studies at U. of Chicago.
Seirdyfinally got webmentions to render on my static hugo site without JS; they get updated every time the site is re-built in CI. Now I just need to get webmentions to trigger a rebuild...
Seirdyis there any recommended markup/microformat for displaying webmentions? currently I just have a plain <ul> with <time> and <a> tags; an example is at the bottom of https://seirdy.one/2021/01/12/password-strength.html. Might consider adding nofollows.
btremIf I start an account with webmention.io, does that mean that I'm publishing data with them? To put it another way, if someday I write my own webmention plugin for my own site (highly doubtful, but one never knows), could I seamlessly switch over?
btremI finally relaunched my personal website with 11ty. In the end, I'm disappointed with some aspects of 11ty, but I'll just have to deal with them (or learn a new ssg of some sort).
btremThe site is fugly at the moment. I originally was going for fugly, but now I'm thinking of making it look at least somewhat decent. (: And adding webmentions at some point.
btremI'm currently using the freenode.net interface. Works mostly, but it sometimes boots me which is a drag because I lose history and have to open a 2nd window to view the archives.
pengolodlol was trying to use the matrix bridge so that I wouldn't lose history for the same reason since if my client isn't onliine, I don't get to see those messages lol
