[tantek]atrojl_matrix it depends on what your priorities are. If your goal is to own your identity, content etc. online / on the web and actually do that with day to day praxis, then you're in the right place (IndieWeb).

[Murray]Bit of a roundabout question: I frequently bookmark articles, sites etc. to my site, often with notes and quotes for my records; I'll also occasionally tweet a link to the bookmarked article. I don't want to tweet a link to _my notes_ because I'd rather give exposure to the original content, but I feek like it might be useful to capture those interactions with my notes. Does anyone else do anything like this? It feels a little... weird to me. I
[Murray]think because most of the interactions (likes, comments etc.) are really reacting to the shared content, not the tweet itself? (I may be overthinking things 😄)
LoqiA permashortcitation (or permashortid), abbreviated as PSC is a short non-hyperlinked citation to a post permalink, in contrast to a permashortlink which does hyperlink to a post https://indieweb.org/permashortcitation
[chrisaldrich]I used to have a set up on my site that would auto-forward people who clicked on my link to visit my site for a split second and then be forwarded to the original bookmark, but it also meant that one couldn't view any of the conversation on my site either, so I eventually abandoned it. While some may want to talk about the original bookmarked thing, some may also like to have a conversation with you on your site about that thing. Both things
[Murray][chrisaldrich] : oh, I have no problem if people end up commenting on the bookmark post directly, that would definitely make sense to capture those there
[chrisaldrich]There are times when I've shared multiple links from my site to twitter and Bridgy will send the like mentions to both posts. Its always an open question which thing may have been actually liked. Usually I keep them both but don't show the likes on the link I consider secondary...
[chrisaldrich]Some people use Twitter likes as bookmarks (I definitely do this), so there's also sometimes the question of was that thing really a like or a bookmark of the thing?
[Murray]I guess I'm less concerned with how to do it; I can see ways to get bridgy to do what I want. More about whether I should. It feels somehow rude/out of context. Maybe I just go with my gut for now and leave those kinds of interactions where they were made 🙂
[chrisaldrich]Experimenting with what you might like and then changing things later is always permissible. Sometimes you don't know what you want until you try it for a bit.
