doubleloop[m]1Density of users is key for these local reuse networks. My friend runs Freegle and they have more and more competition from Facebook sharing groups, simply because Facebook has the biggest network of people.
doubleloop[m]1[tantek]1: re: reuse platforms, have you looked at Freecycle? That used to be the big one. In the UK we have Freegle, I've had great success with giving away items on that before when I lived in London. Now I live somewhere much smaller, I have less success, but still some.

Murray[d]Is Freecycle no longer a thing in the US? As doubleloop says, it's still actively used in the UK (at least in London). We've also had good success in our friend group with Gumtree, which is mainly "for sale" but often has "free if you pick it up".
